He is very experienced and his hockey IQ is still an asset. Lundkvist is a smaller guy who just doesn't seem to had "it" in the NHL level sadly and isn't really fulfilling any role on the team as Harley is probably the better PK2 option. Hakanpää is an asset on the PK but can't move the puck for his life, something Suter still can do when his speed isn't betraying him.

I don't think there is anything that can justify him forcing Miro to his weaker side. But that is a DeBoer/Nill issue more than anything else.

It's not just Minnesota, it goes back to his time in Nashville.
His hockey IQ is non-existent anymore, just watch literally any game of his Dallas tenure. He gets preferential treatment because a decade ago he was one of the best at his position. He hasn't been that guy in a long time.

High IQ, still productive, "top 4" dmen, don't have contracts bought out that cripple a teams cap for nothing. His play was a part of it but not the sole reason.

Suter is the worst dman on the ice 80-90% of the time for either team, and his play and metrics backs that up.
Maybe if he played less his uninterrupted stream of f*** ups would be less noticeable, but unfortunately because of who he used to be, there's not a coach around that will play him where he should be, which is 10-12 sheltered minutes a night.
