Just because I love posting his ridiculous stat line:

The Amazing Daniel Cleary
15GP...1G...0A...1Pts...-5...22PIM...0 PPP...0 SHP....0 GWG...28 SH...3.6 SH%...
16:42TOI/g
3:07 PPTOI/g

On pace for 3-4 points.

It's simple. Holland takes care of his veterans. He doesn't buy into the "what have you done for me lately" that many other GMs do. I respect how he treats his players, but sometimes, and this is a good example (as was Maltby), the takes his hospitality a little too far. This is a business after all. There's a fine line between being personal and being a businessman.

He's reportedly injured.

Yep. He got injured early in the game yesterday I believe. Ought to hurt us in the face off dot. He leads the league in FO% out of all players who have taken more than 150 face offs.

Some roster news:

Kindl plays tonight, and Huskins is out.

Better move would have been swapping Kindl with Lashoff, but I'll take this.

I think you mean Babcock, Holland may be responsible for Cleary still being on the team but he has nothing to do with how much ice-time he gets, that's all Babcock.

Cleary has been good for the team in previous years and wouldn't seem so bad if he was playing on the 4th line in limited minutes and definitely not on the PP.

Hopefully he retires after this season, its pretty clear he no longer has the legs that made him successful with the Wings.

I thought I was just crazy thinking Cleary was always out on the ice, but over 16 minutes of ice time? At this point he needs to be just a powerplay "specialist" if Babcock is so intent on keeping him on the ice. Like...5 minutes a game.

Cleary is arguably the worst player in the league that's not a designated fighter/goon. And he plays in our top 6 and PP.

Bingo.

Babcock has other options, but continues to play Cleary in a role that he's no longer capable of playing.

Let it be known that when I rip Cleary, I am actually ripping Babcock. It's not Cleary's decision to play when and where he does. It's the coach's.

Just wait until Renney is fired and Cleary becomes a player/coach to fix the PP.

Thanks Henkka, Roster's are updated for both teams, and thanks to ThirdManIn for the Predators lines/pairings.

I just looked at the TOI/G compared to some other players.

Danny plays more than Bobby Ryan and Wayne Simmonds.

The only player that has as bad stats than Danny in the 16:23-16:53 min range is Derek Dorsett. But DD has 4 assists to go along with his 1 goal.

That is just unbelievable. What a friggin joke. Danny really is just Babs' boy isn't he?

nashville lost a intense game yesterday. this should be an easy one for the wings.
i know they are not the best at the moment but have a rested datsyuk and zetterberg should not be enough vs a tired nashville squad?i refuse to believe that.

i think its a 5-1 tonight for the wings.

we have won 3 of 4 games when the other team played the night before. so why should this trend change?

Mason let in 6 goals. I didn't think it was all that intense and anytime Nashville takes a loss without Rinne in the net isn't surprising.

Well that would make more sense than him being a healthy scratch; his faceoff percentage is filthy (like, 65% or something), and he's huge.

I just had to take a shot (albeit, poorly aimed in retrospect) at the Holland-haters, nothing more. ;)

Sammy fires a clapper at Dan Cleary's jaw - Wings win 3-2

While Cleary is standing in the right corner, 25 FT from the net...that is how inaccurate Sammy's shot is lol.

Eh, I was going to say Cleary was in the bathroom and Samuelsson's shot from the point hit him in the face, but that might be going a little too far. :sarcasm:

Datsyuk is strong enough to center his line again. I love D and Fil together has been successful. With Kindl in and the heightened talk of him, I'm glad we'll get another assessment. I'm hoping Tatar can get 4 points (he almost had 2 goals in Minni) and unseat Daniel Cleary from the top line.

Babcock speaking of Tatar on the PP-
“I don’t know how long it’s going to last,†said Babcock, of the Tatar experiment. “But as long as it lasts, we’ll keep riding it. Maybe he’s one of those guys that just decides that he wants to be a Red Wing (and) he’s going to take someone’s job.â€

Lets Go Red Wings!
