It was later in the season (like 10 games left late), but New Jersey fired Robbie Ftorek in favor of Larry Robinson before winning it in 2000.

Do the Sharks count as coaching change if it was done during the off season?

Missed the Playoffs with tmac last year

Made it to the SCF with Deboer

By the rules of first post it does not, same applies to AV concerning Rangers.

Devils fired Robbie Ftorek with 9 games left to go in the regular season in 2000.

Then they won the Cup.

This is like the Pittsburgh trend lol, fire the coach midway through the season, play president winning trophy Washington in the second round, beat them then go to the Stanley cup finals

Pittsburgh should be firing their coach halfway through a season every other year. it's kind of weird they have done it twice now.

Weird trivia thing I guess, Pens will probably be that team that fires a coach during a season and goes to the Final.

Not only did we fire our coach mid-season on both occasions, but on both occasions the job was filled by our AHL head-coach, who also happened to be American born! Both times we also went on to beat the caps in the 2nd round as well. I guess one other similarity you can probably draw upon is the fact that in 09 we beat the Canes in the ECF, who were a team from the South East Division, while this time around we beat the Bolts, who used to be in the South East Division as well!

The similarities in scenarios really are kinda crazy lol

Um...

Pray tell, what trend do you speak of? This year's 'trend'?

Yeah... no.

Flyers 2009-10. Stevens fired, Laviolette hired. Lost to Chicago in six that year for the Cup.

Yeah but one of their firings was Therrien, who shouldn't have been hired in the first place. Montreal holds no one accountable, so that's exactly where someone like Therrien will find a leash.
