Big and needed win. After losing in Pittsburgh and going to Tampa, they could not afford to lose tonight.

Not going to lie if the opposing goalie's snaps broke during a scoring opportunity I wouldn't want the play to stop either.

Man, if this is what the team looks like without Faulk, we can't afford to trade him. Defense looked really shaky tonight.

Bah, grats on the win guys. Well played game by the Canes. Hope your team is on the upward swing for awhile, that was fun to watch. Best of luck the rest of the season (until you face us on the 6th that is.)

Cam was fantastic as was Aho and Pesce. Slavin got better as the game went along. Pesce/Slavin pairing shut down the top line in the NHL. That's damn impressive. It will only get a little easier for them against Tampa and the triplets.

Tonight was weird. Slavin-Pesce (mostly Slavin) even looked a little shaky, but they managed to completely shut down the P. Kane at the same time.

i am really curious as to what this team would look like with eric staal

better, worse, same?

obviously the staal thats playing right now would be a huge add for this team

but who knows if that staal shows up if still on this team

who knows if skinner plays the way he has this year

but damn it sucks and is simultaneously great to see him playing so well

Better. I have no problem with the team moving on and Eric getting a fresh start elsewhere, but Eric would have made this team better IMO. Better enough to make the playoffs? I'm not sure, but still I think they'd be better.

18,000 at the game tonight. It's so nice to see that arena full, tho a big percentage were Hawks fans.

I'm not so sure. And I know, it's me, so I'm expected to say that, but it was obvious Eric was in a funk here (see: his last year here) and if that continued (and there's no reason to think it wouldn't have), we would have been giving top line minutes and top PP time to a guy that, frankly, sucked out loud.

Meh

One of the major reasons this team is as good as it is right now is because every player in the lineup is high effort. Nobody floats, everybody backchecks, nobody spectates during board scrums, everybody gets involved at the faceoff, etc. Eric has never really been that guy unless it was a playoff game. RF knew what he was doing when he let Eric walks. All respect to him for reviving his career but he was never going to do that with the Canes.

And I was one of those people who was not opposed to signing him in the offseason. I just don't see how he would be a good fit in the here and now.

Tennyson scratch confirmed healthy. Peters didn't sound vindictive about it, said straightforwardly that he wasn't good enough after the 3-day layoff and played his way out of the lineup. But that he had a good day today and will get another chance soon.

I liked something Peters said on a related note -- that every spot on this roster, and in the organization, is considered on an interim basis. That everything's competitive, there are no slots for veterans or high draftees, everything has to be earned.

Thanks man. We could probably use more TT-like players, got any you'd like to trade to us, I mean we've helped your team out w/ cap issues in the past.

I highly doubt we would have seen a change for the better in Eric had he stayed. I think both parties needed to move on and I have no issues w/ doing so.

Yeah I just saw the attendance number and was hoping for a sellout. Close enough and much better than what it has been. As for the building being mostly Hawks fans, well we appreciate their money and they go home disappointed so good for us :yo: I wish this team won more often when opposing teams fans take over our building, it would make these games a much more enjoyable experience.

I've noticed a couple times that Hanifin plays real wide allowing a player to cut in on him toward the net. The 2nd goal, where he played wide and let Towes cut in is an example. He's young and will get the hang of it, but this is at least the 3rd game where I've noticed this and it's a bit surprising, given that as a D, you should be forcing a guy wide and not allowing him to cut in.
