Sonny Milano is a very intriguing option after not being qualified. Would probably be fairly cheap, and he had solid underlaying numbers on a bad Ducks team.

Man, I'd have been a bit frustrated if Yzerman made that trade instead of Husso, and the stakes are incredibly low for us.

In Toronto, where the roster and salary margins for error are so, so slim, that feels... very risky. I've never been a big Matt Murray guy. Feels like Dubas paying a big premium for playoff pedigree.

Give me:
Ian Cole and Josh Manson to add stability at experience to the d Corp
Andrew Copp as 2c
Ondrej Palat for top 6 role

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond
Palat - Copp - Vrana
Rasmussen - Veleno - Sundqvist
Erne - Suter - Zadina
Smith

Cole - Seider
Edvinsson - Manson
Walman - Hronek
Oesterle

Husso
Nedeljkovic

That's my ideal, likely won't happen but if half of it happens I'll be happy.

I don’t know what the Leafs are thinking.

But Senators are probably thinking they are about to load the boat in free agency.
They’re setting the table for Giroux to go home.
I don't have anything against Ottawa as a roster. But considering the track record of ownership, I think the most likely scenario is:

They have a successful free agency, and make a significant jump in the standings. This will be followed by a lackluster playoff performance (since most of them are so inexperienced, and will need to learn how to win).

But rather than be patient, ownership will jump the gun, consider it a failed experiment, and go right back to the Melnyk days of tightening the wallet.

Seravelli on his pod tonight mentioned Detroit having interest in Trocheck. He also said Copp is looking at something along 6x6.

My prediction:

Malkin (2y, 11 per or 3y 8.5 per)
Edler (2y, 5 per)
4th liner or two

I think Stevie keeps the contracts short now that he has his dmen of the future and center of the future drafted.

Sundqvist and Erne have contracts, and no way Lalonde is dumb enough to stick Suter and Zadina together if he watches any video or looks at advanced stats.
