You can control shape on and off the ball through the instructions, shape, mentality and role. The default view is your defensive shape. Same thing with the movement and positioning of your players.

I do agree with it being annoying that you can't specify where you press but for the most part the match engine is quite in depth if you know how it works.

I couldn't help my self and bought it.
I still have a long career save file on Fm 17. I am enjoying but the UI is completely atrocious. I don't know what they were thinking.
