True story: I've been hired by Matt Murray to accompany him from 9AM to Midnight on Tuesday to photograph & chronicle his day with the Cup in Thunder Bay. This doesn't even feel like real life.:amazed:

For real!!? That's incredible!

Time to find out if any Pens read HF...!

I sat down for lunch with him the other day to help plan the logistics of his day. I asked him a couple questions:

Me: Why, after Game 7 against Tampa, when you and Sid did an interview, Sid took yours and his name cards and switched them around?
Murray: He's, like, obnoxiously superstitious. Everything needs to be perfect.

Me: Your career kind of doesn't make sense. You were a solid prospect in the OHL, then you destroyed the AHL, then you went to the NHL for a dozen games and won a Cup. Shouldn't goaltending get harder?
Murray: Well the thing about the OHL is that no one plays defence and no teams coach defence. So you're getting caught out of position on a lot of broken plays or D just don't cover their guy. In the Pros, your D are so good that the play is easier to read.

He's a very personable, humble but confident young man. Quiet enough but also outgoing enough, if that makes any sense. His mom told me "Playing in the NHL wasn't Matt's dream, it was his goal".

Had a great time at the Cup celebration yesterday. I only stayed there briefly, but that place sure knows how to make you feel welcome. I walked down to Cole Harbour place at 9:00, and chatted with Pens fans for a couple hours before Sid arrived. The thing that everyone brought up, "Did you think this would be happening in December?"

Damn so I guess he's in Toronto with it tomorrow?

He gets two days? Or did he only get it late today?

A few pics off my phone from Saturday. Had a blast.

Got a chance to say congratulations and told him to stay healthy this short off-season because we both know that a repeat is on everyone's minds what with the similar roster. "No pressure though" and we laughed.
