Giroux only needs to score 83 points next season :D

I think it is possible if he plays ~80 or so.

The last two seasons he has paced for 74 & 70 with simply atrocious 'puck-luck'. I mean, maybe 14-15 was simply 'bad-below average luck' but 15-16 was 'unrepeatabley bad luck.'

14-15: 74pt pace, 9.95% on ice sh%
15-16: 70pt pace, 8.89% on ice sh%

Before that he had been at: 11.06%, 11.09%, 10.64%, 10.92% in the four years prior.

And here are the teams shots for/60 while on ice since 11-12:

11-12: 37.76
12-13: 36.25
13-14: 38.21
14-15: 37.65
15-16: 38.35

Last year was the highest since he became truly elite!

But last year his 8.89% was the 2nd worst of the ~40 forwards with 1500+ minutes!

It is pretty amazing he actually still paced for 70pts with such a low%... shows how much he helps generate while on ice. He was 13th amongst NHL FWDS in On ice shots/60.

It would be pretty ridiculous if his on ice sh% was under ~10% this season.

Here is how many points he would have paced for last year with more normal on ice sh%:

9.5%: 75pts
10%: 79pts
10.5%: 83pts
11%: 87pts

So if he can play at a similar level to last year and put up even at the bottom end of the on ice sh% he did between 10-11 and 14-15 (10.64) he would be at ~PPG.

Believe it or not the Flyers had more shots/60 with Giroux on ice than: Kane, Benn, Karlsson, Wheeler, Gaudreau, Pavelski, Kuznetsov & Panarin.

In fact the only players top 15 in NHL scoring last year generating more than Giroux were: Crosby, Thornton, Ovechkin & Seguin!

34 goals is a lot for Giroux. He's hit 28 twice in his career, hish #1 and #2 highest scoring seasons. I'd love to see it though.

Hextall has 6 more assists than VandeVelde does through his first 201 NHL games.

Voracek became only the 33rd Flyer in NHL history to score 100 goals in Orange and Black tonight.

Wayne Simmonds tied Mark Howe and Paul Holmgren for 21st all time in Flyers goals with his 138th.

Claude Giroux's 58th PP Goal as a Flyer means he is now in sole possession of 14th all-time in Flyers PP Goals... he broke deadlock with Scott Hartnell.

He is the 63rd Flyer to hit that mark, and the 21st Flyers defenseman.

It was also his 128th point as a Flyer, which ties him for 20th all-time amongst Flyers Dmen with Gord Murphy.

Quite a few misc Flyers ones tonight.

Voracek with his 309th point as a Flyer equalled Paul Holmgren at 27th all-time.

Simmonds 126th assist as a Flyer equalled Keith Primeau at 46th all-time.

Schenn with his 87th goal as a Flyer equalled Keith Primeau at 38th all-time.

Schenn with his 201st assist as a Flyer equalled Simon Nolet at 42nd all-time... strangely enough Schenn now has 201pts in 358 games as a Flyer... exactly the same number of both Nolet had in Flyers career.

One big one while I was away.

Claude Giroux went 10th all-time in points as a Flyer with his assist against Calgary. His 535th point (he now has 539) tied him with Gagne.

Giroux's assist against Calgary also put him 7th all-time in assists as a Flyer as he tied Brind'Amour on 366. He is now only 3 assists away from Lindros and MacLeish, and being 5th all-time in Flyers assists.

With his 85th win as a Flyer tonight Steve Mason went 7th all-time in wins in O&B, tying Pete Peeters.

Mason is now only 8 wins away from 93 wins as a Flyer... which would put him 3rd all-time.
