If you extend read, I'm think you move somebody else. Read if he gets paid 3.5-4 will just be far to expensive as a 3rd line winger and if he plays the 2nd line then somebody like Schenn/Simmonds get bumped (who again will be getting paid 3-4M each.

This is why the team gets in cap hell, everybody and their grandmom gets paid like 3-4M, some get 8M (deserved). Look at a lot of the successful teams, how many are paying any of their bottom 6 guys more than 3M, hell maybe even 2M

Maybe what they are thinking...Read seems to be a "glue" type of guy but more with respect to what he can do on the ice. Not sure how he is in the locker room
