Quotes via Andrew Gross http://www.northjersey.com/blog/fireandice/:

Ray Shero:

“Play harder,” Shero said, forcefully. “Really. Play [bleeping] harder. That’s what I’m talking about. There’s a will they need. There’s a passion and emotion to our game. How many scrums have we been involved with? No one is mad at us. There’s got to be pushback in your game and pride in your game. Someone takes your lunch money, what the hell? It’s not good. That’s something we established last year. It’s a tenacity to your game. Our team last year, we never gave up. That, to me, is what you’re trying to build, and that’s pride.”

“The way we’re playing now is too slow, and we look slow,” Shero said. “We’re not on our toes … Last night is exactly what makes you lose seven in a row and, until you fix it, who knows how many it will be.

“Whether it’s accountability or whether it’s the passion, people talk about leadership or character, and I don’t buy that for a second,” Shero added. “I have one word for anybody that plays for this team or works for this team: You have to have pride in anything you do.”

“They don’t have to score,” Shero said. “They do have to play a certain way. They do have to have a certain commitment all over the ice. I can’t rely on [rookie] Miles Wood, who’s two years out of prep hockey, to make a difference. Thank God he is, I guess, to a certain extent.

“We want our fans to have pride in this team,” Shero added. “They did last year. We were off to a great start, played great at home. Now, over five, six weeks, we’ve given it back. And that’s not good.”

Team could earn its way back into my good graces starting tonight
But will they is the question

The (beach) ball is entirely in your court guys
Just don't let it get near Cory cause well...you know

Seriously losing to tonight's opposition would **** me off WAY more than the rags debacle

And I hate when they lose to the rags so...yeah

People like to complain about our bottom 6... look at the Flyers' one. It's not much better than ours, they're good because of their top 6 and PP. Bottom 6 doesn't make/break a team.

Haven't tuned in to any of the games this season so can't really say anything about how they have played... I have kept an eye on the scoreboards though. Horrific no-shows? Bad puck luck? Cory having an off year? What happened since November?

I'm not expecting much from us tonight but asking for a win once in a while seems reasonable. Blasting the Flyers would be even better. Henrique and Palmieri scoring would be nice. Wait, that was too much. Just don't embarrass yourselves, please?

I don't want to be flabbergasted after another uninspired performance again tonight. I hope the team at least brings it tonight.
