Remember when Habs fans thought this pick was going to get them Bedard?
Watching the Leafs lose, takes the sting out of it. But this was a huge win for the Habs regardless. It was Fla 1st ++ for Chiarot.Chiarot trade still a big win for the Habs but this has to sting. Habs fans bragging so much about two lottery picks. One being Bedard. Yeah. No.
NO one ever thought that. But nice try gaslighting the conversation.....Remember when Habs fans thought this pick was going to get them Bedard?
It's two picks that have a ~25% chance and ~15% chance respectively (being very generous here) of becoming long term NHL players. Huge win.Watching the Leafs lose, takes the sting out of it. But this was a huge win for the Habs regardless. It was Fla 1st ++ for Chiarot.

For Chiarot.... You forgot that part of it. 1st round picks matter. All lives matter. It's two picks that have a ~25% chance and ~15% chance respectively (being very generous here) of becoming long term NHL players. Huge win.

Go do it and look for where Fla 1st is a guaranteed 1st overall. No one said that. Even florida missing the playoffs this year would not have resulted in a 1st had Fla won the lottery. It would have been 4th/5th.Don't make me do homework on a Saturday
Pretty standard return for a coveted rental defenseman. You might think Chiarot sucks but the trade market didn't at the time. Getting a top 15 pick would have indeed been a huge win for the Habs rebuild but instead they end up with a glorified 2nd rounder. Too bad.For Chiarot.... You forgot that part of it. 1st round picks matter. All lives matter.
There's no glossing over how much of a win this was for Montreal.
Except its a 1st rounder ++ for Chiarot. That's a huge win. Say it with me sparky... The Habs won that trade.Pretty standard return for a coveted rental defenseman. You are gaslighting because you are jealous Hughes made a great trade? Just admit it was a great trade and move on.
the ++ are 2 long shot prospects. this likely ends up a very late 1st for chiarot. habs now have to do something with that 1st.Watching the Leafs lose, takes the sting out of it. But this was a huge win for the Habs regardless. It was Fla 1st ++ for Chiarot.

Alternative facts? You gifted us a late 1st round pick and then some. For a guy who did diddly for you last year. You even have your own little prayer thread on the Habs board and everything.
Jealous of what, we gifted you a an early 2nd round pick and still made the final 4 so we are moving on
For Chiarot! LOLthe ++ are 2 long shot prospects. this likely ends up a very late 1st for chiarot. habs now have to do something with that 1st.

This season, getting rid of Chiarot helped you to the conference final!
For Chiarot! LOL
That's the hope! You are good at this.Oh no, hopefully those lottery tickets turn into something in 5 years...
Damn that's a really impressive track record. How many NHL games have Hutson, Beck and Kidney played? Sounds like a lot.Except its a 1st rounder ++ for Chiarot. That's a huge win. Say it with me sparky... The Habs won that trade.
I get it pains you to say it....
Habs also have been pretty good with 2nd round picks btw. Lane Hutson, Owen Beck, Kidney.... Lehkonen was a 2nd round pick.
They will in the future. Like Lehkonen and Romanov!Damn that's a really impressive track record. How many NHL games have Hutson, Beck and Kidney played? Sounds like a lot.
Awesome! Habs are well on their way to building another dynasty. They will in the future. Like Lehkonen and Romanov!
I wouldn't say dynasty. That's hyperbole. But well on their way to rebuilding.Awesome! Habs are well on their way to building another dynasty.
Dude there was a whole thread about how the combined odds of this pick and Mtl’s was greater than Columbus’.Watching the Leafs lose, takes the sting out of it. But this was a huge win for the Habs regardless. It was Fla 1st ++ for Chiarot.
NO one ever thought that. But nice try gaslighting the conversation.....
No one ever thought that this pick would result in a 1st overall. In fact, it was impossible even if Fla missed the playoffs at 15 and won the lottery. That pick would move up 11 spots.Dude there was a whole thread about how the combined odds of this pick and Mtl’s was greater than Columbus’.
You are wrongNo one ever thought that this pick would result in a 1st overall. In fact, it was impossible even if Fla missed the playoffs at 15 and won the lottery. That pick would move up 11 spots.
Why is this even a debate???
Just be happy for the Habs for getting a 1st round pick ++ for Chiarot. Can't people be happy for the Habs???
That's wrong. If Florida at 15 won the lottery, the pick would have moved up 11 spots. Montreal had the 5th best odds for Bedard and the 4th best odds of winning the lottery. Winning the lottery in the case of Florida does not equal Bedard.
Not true. There was a long, gloating thread about how the two picks together gave Montreal a good chance for 1oa.Watching the Leafs lose, takes the sting out of it. But this was a huge win for the Habs regardless. It was Fla 1st ++ for Chiarot.
NO one ever thought that. But nice try gaslighting the conversation.....
But that's factually incorrect. The Fla odds of winning the lottery at #15 doesn't give the Habs the 1OA.Not true. There was a long, gloating thread about how the two picks together gave Montreal the best chances for 1oa.
Florida was in the 9th spot at the time. No need to be condescending, especially when you were already shown to be wrong. But that's factually incorrect. The Fla odds of winning the lottery at #15 doesn't give the Habs the 1OA.
I mean you guys understand that right???
Jesus, you are talking 3 months ago? LOLFlorida was in the 9th spot at the time. No need to be condescending, especially when you were already shown to be wrong.
