Statistics for the team that wins the president's Trophy.

Top seeds are upset from time to time, but more often than not the top team in the regular season ends up at least reaching the NHL's final four, as these figures illustrate:
  • Stanley Cup Winners: 8
  • Lost Stanley Cup Final: 4
  • Lost Conference Finals: 5
  • Lost Second Round: 7
  • Lost First Round: 6

It’s insane that it’s almost 50/50 for the best team in the league to either go out in the first round or win the stanley cup. No other sport is like that

Your Mind
Just reading through this thread and I got to the point of where everyone is talking about home ice advantage etc

I just had an audible WOW come out of my mouth at the legit chance of winning the Presidents trophy.

Even he most optimistic Jets fan couldn’t say that was a thought in September or october.

I'd sit Perreault, and maybe Ehlers. Both have been somewhat off their game and I wonder if they might benefit from a few days off. Also, I'm ticked off at Perreault for offensive-zone penalties in three straight games.

I'd keep Roslovic in the line-up. Kid has been dynamite when he's had the opportunity, and deserves some more opportunities.

Agree. I’d even seriously consider playing Roslovic over Perreault in the POs.

And when they played the Jets they would be super pumped ... no thanks. Let Nashville have their PC and the Jets can take the SC.

Yeah if they need something like that to be pumped for the playoffs it ain't gonna go well for them.

Winning the Central does not necessarily guarantee home ice in the SCF though. We would need a few dominoes to fall in order to win the PT

1 Jets get 4 points from remaining 2 games CGY CHI
2 Nashville gets 1 point or less from remaining 2 games WAS CBJ
3 Boston gets 3 points or less from remaining 3 games FLA OTT FLA
4 Tampa gets 3 points or less from remaining 2 games BUF CAR
That 6-5 home game here against Nashville grrrr...

I guess I’m being shortsighted and meant that to be a first round comparison between minn or col/ana

It won't be Anaheim. They're at 97 points. Only 1 behind SJ. Could even get home ice in the first round
