Giordano - Brodie. Tried and true line. That shit works. What six D play in game 1 vs. the Jets, and why?
Brodie needs to be paired with one of Andersson/Gio. Gustaffson is probably bottom pairing anyway. If it was me...
Gio-Andersson
Brodie-Gustaffson
Forbort/Kylington-Hamonic
Without Valimaki.

I feel like they'll go with the status quo that we ran for the last couple of months before the stop:How do y'all see the forward lines coming up out of camp/who do you see being invited to and subsequently winning a spot out of the training camp?
I actually think Forbort and Hamonic would be well above average for a third pairing.
If anything I could see us running 7 dmen, with Gustafsson playing as a pure PP specialist.
Reider and Rinaldo should not see any time in the playoffs.
Forbort Hamonic would be above average in terms of blocking shots but the breakout game and offesnive game would suck ass. Both guys lack offensive creativity and it would be a down low cycle with a defensemen getting it to shoot or pass back down low immediately. Would much prefer an offensive option there.I actually think Forbort and Hamonic would be well above average for a third pairing.

Two defensive dmen together? I guess at least it wouldn't be as easily hemmed in like other dual defensive pairings... Not the worst idea, but I'm unsure what to think about that pairing.

I don't have faith in our coaching to properly pull off having a 7th d-man in the lineup. Sometimes I feel like the Flames are run like a minor league bench where players change themselves.
yeah Gustafsson isn't great at even strength defensively but he contributes to the rush and has offensive creativity which the team lacks. And as far as the PK goes we have so many options before him I don't think that is a big knock against him.I get that point of view but Gustafsson to me is much more of a liability at even strength, and also can't contribute to the PK.
Both Forbort and Hamonic have decent mobility for there size, and their first passes are not horrible. If utilized correctly in terms of matchups it could be extremely effective. Now whether or not the coaching staff can get those matchups is another story as you mentioned.

Forbort and Hamonic are mobile and CAN break it out but beyond that I don't like their offensive contributions. Personally, given the choice I'd only have one of Hamonic or Forbort in to insulate and protect Gustafsson at minimal 5v5 minutes to allow one of them to head-man PK1 with Giordano while Gustafsson takes PP 1 minutes
Running with the idea of 7 defensemen, if Gaudreau is on his game of course, is he and Tkachuk both get extra shifts as the right wing with Bennett and Jankowski against teams bottom lines, and that's where Gustafsson would come out with Hamonic to jump start offense from the back end every once in a whileI agree with most of that which is why I suggested the 7 dmen rotation.
I would rather have Gus quaterback the PP and take the occasional even strength shift than have Rinaldo or Reider play 7 or 8 minutes a game.
If I had to guess we will likely see Forbort out of the lineup to start the series with Gus - Hamonic as the bottom pairing.

Another idea is possibly Gustafsson top pairing with Giordano and adjusting pairings to be more equal from there but I think our top 4 set up is fine with Andersson and Hanifin togther.
You’re probably confused by the Lucic trade.EDIT: NVM, made a mistake. Somehow thought Treliving was also involved with Mr Lube.
