I wanted out new 44 in the lineup to show up our old 44. Not that I think our new 44 is a great player but we know old 44 is awful and it's hilarious he keeps getting traded for and offered new contracts.

Chiasson couldn't keep his head above water while playing with the likes of Draisatl and McDavid. What the hell is the point of giving him a top 6 and PP audition? He's 31 years old with over 500 NHL games. You know that isn't a role he can possibly play. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter and I guess I just don't like this player.

Are pods and Garland possibly switching wing spots for this one?

Why is Hoglander on the fourth line - I know it’s preseason but still… lol
My thoughts exactly....if Hoglander ends up on the fourth line, while a PTO guy like Chiasson ends up on the top line, you'd really have to scratch your head. But then I guess the exhibition schedule is for tinkering....and as long as guys like Pettersson, Hughes, Sutter and Motte are still missing, the lineup will continue to be juggled just to get through the exhibition schedule.

I can see them going into the season with a top nine of

Hoglander-Pettersson-Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Chiasson
Garland - Miller - Podkolzin

And when Sutter and Motte are healthy:

Hoglander-Pettersson-Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Chiasson
Garland - Miller - Podkolzin
Motte - Dickinson-Sutter

That is a very solid forward group. Miller and Horvat's lines would be interchangeable in terms of most ice time on a night to night basis depending on which line seems to be going.

Nothing against Chiasson, who by now fully qualifies as a decent journeyman pro. But if a PTO can come in and essentially end up on the second line, it doesn't say much about their forward depth.

Has Chiasson even looked that good at camp? Seems to me, he's been outplayed by Di Giuseppe and Gadjovich.

I agree to a certain extent. Chiasson is probably better suited on the fourth line or 13th forward as a pp option when injuries hit.

In the roster I posted it's more about balance across all four lines. Loading up offense on the top two lines and leaving the third line as more of two way/defensive line (I don't like Podkolzin's role as much in this case) looks like this:

Miller-Pettersson-Boeser
Garland- Horvat -Hoglander
Pearson - Dickinson - Podkolzin
Motte - Sutter - Chiasson

Edit: And in this scenario I would probably rather bring Gadjovich or Lockwood along on the 4th line rather than Chiasson. They have shown well in training camp but neither is ready for a higher minute role (yet).

Horvat's back will give out carrying those two.

I want off this wild chiasson ride.

I really want him for our 4th line/bottom 6. He's basically a Jannik Hansen type... Has always been a good utility player.

Hopefully no one else offers him a contract and we get him ultra cheap..
He would be an upgrade on Highmore, MacEwen, Di Giuseppe, Dowling, Petan etc.

Veteran - experienced, would be trusted, versatile, stable known quantity.
