The Lightning are a couple players away from being a threat imo. Add a top pairing vet who can move the puck and play with Hedman (Ehrhoff??) and another top 6 guy (CAMMALLERI ) and they'd be a threat. Certainly more than any of the other Eastern teams aside from Boston.

Well, they do need a centre as bad as they need a defensemen. That team has more holes than we do!

They don't need more centres. They need to teach the centres they have how to play hockey or else bring people in who can show them.

First of all you'd like to think they learnt from their mistake. Also, at the time Yakupov was considered the consensus BPA in the draft. This time it's more of a toss up, and Ekblad actually may be the player with the most "wow" factor in the whole draft class.

I dug down a few pages on this board and did not see a thread dedicated to Backlund, nor is there a general Calgary Flames discussion thread (as far as I can see), so this is a good-enough place.

Many of you know the Blues need center help and a couple seasons ago I was pining for Backlund to join STL thinking that his developmental trajectory was on the upswing.

He is, indeed, scoring at a higher clip this season, but what is holding him back? I thought he would have busted out by now.
