Chiasson was playing 1RW for too long because of their history on the stars.
I mean who else was there? Brouwer absolutely busted for us, Frolik was dynamite on the 3M, and Versteeg preferred the left side and was mostly a pp specialist for us.

Can't really fault him for roster construction on that one. Glue gun was the one who eventually rectified it too by playing Ferland with them.

OKG has an epic tale for you about Sam Bennett.

Well that was an interesting period. We deserved a couple of more goals that's for sure.
Stupid icing not called.
Typical game vs Vegas. Liked Stecher standing up for himself, happy for Pickles.

I forgot he was nicknamed pickles for chugging pickle juice.

Gulutzan was like the only coach on the flames that tried Sam at center lol. He slotted Sam at the 2c right off the bat, but Sam sucked at it

Wat? No, he did not 2C. He played 2LW for Backlund and 3C with anchors. Tkachuk stole his 2LW slot and then Bennett started thinking he was a plug and tried playing like one (per his interview prior to be traded). And arguably, Stajan was doing some borderline 3C stuff vs being the true 4C.

That 4th line shift at the end was better than any lucic shift all season and will be better than anything he will ever do again. But you just know one of em is getting scratched next game but lucics job is cushy af

I'm not being baited into the sample size and correlation argument again after the ridiculous debates about Lucic helping Jonathan Huberdeau.

Speaking of Lucic, he isn't an NHL caliber player anymore. That should be the standard. Pelletier is and quite handily, Lucic isn't, When Dennis Wideman was cooked Glue gun stopped playing him.
Lucic is an NHLer currently for the same reason Reaves, Deslaurieris etc are in the NHL. Their roles aren’t to put up points or be a magician with a puck on their stick, everytime you see a D-man turn the puck over to our F2 when Lucic is skating in on the forecheck or everytime you see a scrum end extremely quickly is his role. It’s a fair opinion to consider that a useless role in today’s game, but that’s why those players are still around.

But honestly what do you think hurts the team more, a 4th liner not doing good in their 4th line role, or a top 6er not doing good in their role? Secondly, would you rather see Pelletier play out the season getting 10 minutes a night and never see Lucic again, or see Pelletier sit a game or two and play in the top 6 when he isn’t? Because that’s what your original argument basically breaks down too.

He was def tried as a C to start, I rmb gully even said he wants him as a C to start. Sam was off to a horrible start and that caused him to get bumped down, which with that flames depth is playing with ahlers

Bennett started as 2LW for Backlund. I agree we tried him at 3C (but not 2C) but he played with guys like Brouwer and?? Which was doomed to failure. But the back up plan was 2LW with Backlund if rookie Tkachuk didn't work out. Instead 3M became a staple and Bennett got stuck and languished.

I choose option 3: scratch lucic, play Pelletier 15 mins a night, and run something like this.

Huberdeau-lindholm-dube/Pelletier
Dube/pelletier-Kadri-Tofolli
Mangi-backs-Coleman
Ritchie-ruzicka-Duehr

Ya know, a lineup with skill on 4 lines.

He was the #2C in 2016-17. Was tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer for the first 4-5 games or something along those lines.

Reaves plays 9 mins a game, lucic plays 11, that's a huge difference. consider that's with no pp and pk time, that's only like a min less than what huberdeau plays at even strength. Lucic handles the puck like me, turns the puck over, gets hemmed in all the time. Other than he occasionally hits, everything else he does hurts the team. When Hartman wacked Ras and clothelined a guy, lucic was on the ice I'm pretty sure, he just watched.

OT Loss it is! 1 point is the best way to go to not make ground in the playoff race while simultaneously ensuring a poor draft position.

Quick has been winning while allowing 3 goals for Vegas. 4-3 VGK in OT.
Oh boy. It's gonna happen.

Go flam, but this is the new Honda so we can't possibly win.
