Don't really know how he plays but I have full confidence in our management. They've managed to pick up on talent on guys like Montour and Forsling. Maybe Nikkola can become Hakanpää 2.0

Made 1.8m on the last deal and was worth it.

Mikkola is a fine bottom pairing dman. Physical and pretty good skating for his size. Handles the puck like a f***ing grenade tho. Maybe a little high on the AAV, but not a horrible contract for a bottom pair guy like him IMO.

Underrated move. He’s a decent, solid player who can play some important minutes. If they had a player or two like him in the Finals, they would’ve stood a better chance. Unfortunately with Gudas leaving, they lost a true playoff warrior.

Look at what some of the other bottom pairing D-men have gotten today. Mikkola for under 3 for multiple years is a steal compared to Cole, Holl, EJ or Gudas for over 3mil, some of which are only for 1 year.

Very solid in his own zone. I liked him a lot on the Rangers. Probably just 500k overpaid but that’s the going rate these days.
