Confirmed Trade: [FLA/CAR] Brody Sutter for Connor Brickley

Sigh. I liked brickley as a depth player. Has NHL 4th line upside. a minor trade, but one which I think Carolina won.

As other Panthers fans have said, when in the lineup, Brickley's been a decent fourth liner with some potential to grow. He's physical and pretty good at fighting for space in front of the net. To begin last season, he had quite a few chances based on the latter. Unfortunately, Gallant thought he was a liability for taking a few too many penalties in his short stint with the Cats. While a minor trade, I definitely feel that the Canes got the better of it.

Brody Sutter is the son of Duane Sutter (NYI, CHI, FLA assistant and head coach, and EDM scout), and a second generation member of the Sutter Family.


Connor Brickley knows a teeny bit about family relations in the NHL too though.
He is first cousins, once removed, with Andy Brickley (BOS, PHI, PIT, NJD, WIN, and BOS colour commentator).
