for once more then 50% of the Canuck fan base liked a pick. No joke even last year, fans were not happy that they didn't draft Vilardi. Canuck fans media, going nuts right now drafting a player we had no business drafting.

Honestly, I think Vancouver picking Hughes, Islanders picking sharpshooter Whalstrom and Dobson was awesome for their fans, and they kept Tavares, win win win for them.

Biggest surprises for me was Hayton at 5, Dellandrea at 13, and O'brien at 19. All centers and that just tells you how rare natural centers are in the nhl.

Absolute Athletic Freakazoid!!
Rico Fata Does Not = Liam Foudy!

Foudy is not just a speed merchant.
Think Dylan Larkin meets Mike Gartner.
He's an excellent puck-handler and play-maker.
Foudy has a very high ceiling as an NHL player in the future.
If Columbus did not take him he would've been drafted between 20-22.
A boat load of NHL Scouts are very high on Foudy and thus Columbus took him @ 18.

So Rico Fata, but slower? Also, Fata went 6th overall

Rico Fata was an amazing skater especially North-South.
He was not a good puck handler and had a short NHL career of 250 games or so.
Fata did play in Europe and eventually retired from hockey at 33 years old.
Liam Foudy is a much different player than Fata.
He's a slick stick-handler and passer.
Foudy will be a Blue Jacket star.
Heck of a pick!

Fata had more points than Foudy just had in his draft year minus one - he scored more goals in his draft year than Foudy had points. Points stands: elite athletes can make an impression at junior level or at a combine (look at Chris Calnan's domination vs his actual hockey career) that inflate their value but that doesn't mean that their talent level in other aspects of the game is at the same level as those around them who are not as good a physical athlete. We'll see how high the talent level with Foudy is this upcoming season when he's the man in London.

Different Ownership, Coaching and Training dictates the Knight's players success.
Liam Foudy was playing 3rd and 4th Line in his first 1.5 years as a London Knight.
The Knights unloaded their elite talent including Robbie Thomas, Max Jones, Cliff Pu
and Sam Miletic at the OHL trade deadline.
It was at that point Liam Foudy started to shine on the #1 Line and PP.
During that time Foudy scored 19 of his 24 goals after the New Year of '18.
Foudy was invited to CHL Prospect game and also played for Team Canada.
He was rated #1 in the NHL Combine..............impressive!!
The London Knights are a much different organization with the Hunters compared to
when Rico Fata played as a junior.
imho........... if Fata was playing for the Knights today he would probably have a
long productive NHL career because of the Hunters guidance.
In 15 years the Hunter's Knights have won 2 Memorial Cups and produced more
NHL players than other CHL team.
Fitness scores may boost Knights forward's NHL draft stock

How the heck do you do team grades just hours after the draft?

"Well, according to the rankings and mock drafts on HFBoards, this guy wasn't supposed to go this high. Fail"

"This guy was supposed to go top 10 but he fell to us in the teen's. That's an A"
I don't disagree. It's impossible to tell, I always think back to 2010. Everyone dubbed Anaheim and Phoenix as winners for drafting Fowler and Gormley at 12/13 because they fell from about 5-6 or so

People talk about Detroit getting Veleno and that being great, but Berggren who they selected 3 spots later is 10x the player Veleno is.

Great 1st round, and they followed it up with a great 2nd.
