I don't think it's a question of the team paying for it, but rather that the punishment is too severe and should be reduced. They wouldn't be asking for complete absolution, but rather just a lesser penalty, just like how regular prison sentences can be reduced for good behavior, in this case removing all those formerly involved with the team. It's not an outrageous ask. There were some anonymous takes across the league who indicated they thought it was overly harsh, others thought it was appropriate or clamored for more. Without the specifics being released, it sounds overly punishing and those clamoring that it was an appropriate punishment or should have been more should have to make the case else they come across as simply trying to use anything to gain a competitive advantage. This whole issue wouldn't be an issue if the league was ever transparent about these things, or maybe it would be because they'd show how widely incapable they are at doling out punishments such as displayed on the ice with penalty calls or off the ice with discipline.
The League has been clear and decisive forever, cheating will not be tolerated and punished harshly. Anyone who expected a small punishment hasn't been paying attention. Some folks here tried to wash it aside as stretchgate forever while some of us kept saying there was more there. The noise was there.

The thing is that this isn’t really congruous with how the world generally works. An employee committed a crime. The employer was not found by any evidence to have contributed via negligence or any other knowing or intentional manner to the crime. The employee was subject to punishment. Why should the employee be? They wouldn’t usually be in most instances.

If one of John Chayka’s Wendy’s Managers who had a completely clean criminal and employment record with no prior red flags of any kind, suddenly showed up in a ski mask with a shotgun and took all the money from the registers, employees, and customers before being shot dead by the police, should John Chayka (as his employer) be prosecuted and sentenced in his place, simply because in the death of the criminal, they escaped the reach of the courts?

This isn't a normal work situation and no one is being convicted of a crime, but if you want use an example let's say the CEO of an Organization sexually abuses staff. Do you think the abused staff members would sue just the CEO? The CEO would get his punishmen and the Organization would also be paying compensation. The Coyotes have admitted to their wrongdoing, might be time to accept that.

Why are we even discussing this? The Coyote's accepted the NHL penalty. To bad Chayka's penalty, the asshole behind all this, is less severe than the Coyotes.

It’s pretty unbelievable they didn’t fire Tocchet yesterday. I hope they don’t win another game until he’s fired.
I wish we knew what BA is thinking. Does he think RT is doing a good job? Is he afraid of bad PR if he fires RT? Does he have a coach already selected not with the organization and is letting the season ride out? Does he blame the roster not the coaching? Another year another sad ending.

Would be key if he came out and addressed where he’s at. It’s as easy as saying he plans on reevaluating the team and coaching staff at the end of the year or that he has some sort of time line?

Fire Tochett, hire Gallant, see who does well under Gallant, drop the dead weight at years end and build with the cap available.

Big test for Armstrong over the next month.

The team is bad. There is very little trade capital. The farm system is weak.

Sigh.

Coach, if there is some honor in you, take your Baggage and quit your contract.

Loved you as a player, but we cant move forward any yard with this coaching style.

Trading OEL, Kessel, and Kuemper may not even be enough to stay above water. And those 3 things are far from a given.

Fun times.
