An empty arena would send a better message.
Which should we go with?
Eaaaaa-kins.
Eaaaa-kins.
Or...
Fi-re Eakins *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
Fi-re Eakins *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
The first one sounds much more annoying, but it's easier to get the crowd into the second one. People like clapping.
Yep. My buddy's a season tickets owner as well, so it beats me. I've heard they don't allow people to bring paper bags last year as well. I guess fans have to suffer with their hard earned money watching a horrible team without being able to rally.
I've been an incredibly loyal fan since '96 when I was 6 years old. I still watch every single game and don't know why I put myself through it.
I'm not dumb enough to think getting a chant going will cause this Mickey Mouse Operation to make any change. However, as a fan I should be able to voice my opinion at the games. I don't see how this can be scoffed at and have you tell me I lack class.
There is no accountability in the organization and maybe over time the fans can provide some
Hey man, I hear you. But if you are serious about making a statement or eliciting some kind of accountability, this is not the way to do it. By your own admission, it's pointless. The best you can accomplish via this method is to send a message that says, "I've had enough of this crap. But not enough to, you know, actually stop going to the games."
These fan chants are one of those trends that seems to have gained increasing momentum in recent years, and as an observer it just strikes me as childish. That's the sort of thing we used to do in grade school. Whenever I hear the Montreal faithful do that stupid "Ole" chant, or fans in any building mock the opposing goaltender by repeating his name over and over, I can't help but think one thing: Grow up.
Stay home if you want to make a point. No franchise was ever turned around because the fans invoked their right to behave like schoolgirls teasing the fat chick at the playground. Empty seats, on the other hand... that can be deafening.
Either way, I hope you enjoy the game.

I have to disagree with this. The guy is obviously a fan of the Oilers. If he were to stop watching games, that makes him indifferent, not impactful. You're giving up you're favor for the team (ie, being a fan) when you lack all action that displays favor.
As opposed to him showing displeasure towards the events he normally favors?
Love the idea, however remember the guy who was escorted out by security for his "Fire Lowe" sign? Be prepared to be thrown out by Fuhrer Lowe and his cronies. Can't let the peasants get too restless.
