Except Trouba and Myers get almost the exact same amount of ice-time at the moment. So, if Trouba is as good or better than Myers for the PP like a #1 defenseman should be, shouldn't it be better to make that 2-minute shift that would put Trouba among the number 1's previously discussed?

Trouba already leads the Jets D in shifts played per game. Buff is second, Myers is third but all 3 are still good enough that they deserve ice time. Just loading all the ice time on one to make their stats look better isn't necessarily the best thing for the team either.

Numbering players is so meaningless. When a player in on the ice he's a number one. There is no way you can shelter a player for 60 minutes a game, for 82 games.
Most "bottom pairing" Dmen play little on the PP, and might have limited minutes on the PP. That leaves about 14 minutes a game at even strength. They better be NHL competent.

Carlson was top 10 in the league in even strength scoring among dmen (at a higher rate than trouba) . He dominated on the pp but he could also do it at even strength.

Given that he was on the top pair of a very good team last year if you don't have him as a #1 or #2 you are simply showing us all how wrong you can be. The only real question is whether Trouba is the #1 or Morrissey is the #1. IMO Trouba's a more dynamic player at this point and is the better of the two.
