Miller and Laf aren’t eating 12 mill.

The hysteria around not being able to keep the trio of Miller/Laf/Chytil was always silly. They’ll have room
Left over after they sign the other 2 and will likely open up space one way or another if they need it.

Miller is tough because you'd like term instead of a bridge but that's going to be difficult for them to pull off.

Let's remember, too, that that 12M "left" is only 14 roster players. They'll need to integrate Cuyllie or Othmann and other cheap options to field a team.

That’s true but that would likely mean that other bodies are going out.

Like outside of the UFAs, I’d be surprised if we don’t move guys who still have term left here

Hey my Rangers friends,

Just got in from work and read this news. Really nice deal for a young player who has a well rounded game.

Congratulations!

Who? Not a ton of options there with all of the NMC's in tow.

A lot is going to depend on this playoff run.

I think Goodrow is a candidate but I wouldn’t even eliminate the possibility of Lindgren, Kakko or even a NMC guy like Panarin if he has another run like last year (they’d need to retain but yeah.)

Faith in Drury is intensifying. Identifying what he brings and how he’s trending and locking him down before the playoff run is good business.

So young and still one of the longest tenured Rangers. In these next 4 years I can see him taking a leadership role with the way he’s matured.

I am so happy they signed Chytil. I said early on,... he would have a career year off his playoff performance last spring. I actually thought his numbers would be better, putting up close to a point per game, but that may still come in time.

Great they locked him up for 4 years. I'm overjoyed.

Not bad??!? That’s a friggen steal. Have your top 3 centers locked up thru this window. You win with goaltending D and imo most important….down the middle.

Great job by drury. Not what can he do with Miller and Laf.

Gotta move Goodrow no matter what unfortunately imo.

Miller: 2 years, $4.5 million
Laf: 2 years, $2.25 million
Halak: 1 year, $1.5 million
Mikkola: 2 years, $2.25 million
Tarasenko: 3 years, $5 million

All per year. Total is $15.5 million. It fits.
Does this account for the 12th and 13th forwards?

And when they trade Goodrow 16 million to sign Miller, Laf, Tarasenko, Halak, Mikkola.
Probably something like this left

- Cuylle
- Bjugstad 2 X 1.25 (I wish for 4C)
- Othmann? If he cant make it maybe a corey perry or phil kessel for small $ for them to cup chase?
- dont think we can afford mikkola so zac jones/robertson battle it out for 6D and Harpur is 7th?
- gotta sign a 12th and 13th fwd

Personally id like this to start the year

Panarin-Mika-Kakko
Kreider-Trocheck-Vesey (trade for top 6 Rw at deadline)
Laff-Chytil-Othmann (if hes not ready get kessel or corey perry as a 1 year stop gap)
Cuylle-Bjugstad- Brendan Lemeiux (yes i think hes a good 4th liner)
13th fwd

Lindgren-fox
Kandre-trouba
Jones/robertson-Schneider
Harpur

Id give kandre 5 X 4.75
Laff 2 X 2.75 (bridge until we trade kreider in 2 years and then cap goes up and he gets a big pay bump, top 6 + PP, handshake agreement with drury)

You're still 2 or 3 forwards short of a full team. I'm also pretty sure Laf will get more than 2.25 mil per year. If he hits 40 points (he needs 4 more), he's probably getting 3 mil.

Potential performance bonus overage only adds to the cap issues.
