It's always worrying when a good player ala Hamilton is traded as often as he is. There has to be more to it.

Faulk has had an unexpectedly strong rebound season defensively. If Hamilton can be the piece that returns a Top 6 forward in a hockey trade, why not entertain it? They've spent years assembling the depth on defense. It will hurt not to take advantage of it.

Canes don't necessarily want to move Dougie. We just desperately have to ship out a RHD for a forward, and it seems no one is biting on Faulk, so it makes sense to at least listen.

It's gonna be pretty disappointing if we end up flipping Ferland for picks though.

Perhaps not in this case. It may be as simple as trying to maximize the quality of the forward returned in a trade for a RHD. Carolina would be fine moving forward with Pesce, a revitalized Faulk, van Riemsdyk, McKeown and hopefully Fox (a trade gives him a clearer pathway to the NHL.)
