I recently started rewatching several shows that i was a fan of when i was a kid. What are some of your favorite tv shows from your youth?

Example:

Boy Meets World
Are you Afraid of the Dark
Pete & Pete ( By the way Artie the strongest man in world is on AMC's Halt & Catch Fire I believe)

My favorites varied as the years went on and my age dictated so, but I have re-watched many shows as an adult and am happy to find that many of them still entertain.

With that said, I'd say the ones that I enjoyed then and to adulthood would include (not a complete list, but what I can remember):

- Family Matters
- Perfect Strangers
- Boy Meets World
- Happy Days
- ALF (might be surprising but A LOT of the humor on this show holds up to this day, I was laughing out loud constantly)
- Married With Children in my later childhood
- Salute Your Shorts

and for the cartoon assortment:

- Hulk Hogan's Rock N Wrestling (cartoon, so ridiculous and still funny)
- DuckTales
- Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers
- Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (for that matter, any Scooby show through the '80s, including Scrappy, 13 Ghosts, etc.)
- various incarnations of Looney Tunes, Disney shorts, Merry Melodies, Hanna-Barberra, etc., Tom & Jerry through the '60s is a very top pick for me
- The Flintstones
- Ren & Stimpy
- The Simpsons (edit: added)
- The Critic (edit: added)
- Beavis & Butthead (edit: added)

I could go on and on about shows that I can still enjoy if I watch it, though I wouldn't go out of my way to watch the series in whole.

Reboot! I watched the whole series again 10 years ago and found it aged well. I need to re-watch it soon.

If it's just TV and not cartoons;

-Airwolf
-Star Trek:TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager,
-The Flash (1990)
-Three's Company
-Diffn't Strokes
-Facts Of Life
-Welcome Back Kotter
-Get Smart
-Saved By The Bell
-California Dreams
-Choose Your Adventure of whatever it was called (The Mario Lopez show)
-Step By Step
-Perfect Strangers
-Family Matters
-Batman 60s Series
-Nick Shows (Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Clarissa, Guts, Nick Arcade, etc)

Basically when I was a kid in NY, the Fox affiliate would show Three's Company, Diffn't Strokes, Facts, etc. and Channel 11 pre The CW would show the Star Trek's (later a local channel called NY-55 would as well). Nick At Night had the old shows, and of course NBC the Aaron Spelling/Peter Engle universe.

Loved wrestling as well. Fox had WWF Superstars of Wrestling, TBS of course with Jim Crockett/WCW on Saturday Nights, and the most underrated one was World Class Championship Wrestling out of Texas which somehow made it onto Sportschannel in NY midnight Friday nights into Saturday morning. During summers watching that, eating ice cream, that was the best.

I only went with shows that were airing at the time of my youth. Could add a lot more if I added shows I watched in syndication.

Lets go waaaay back

Video Power.

1 vs. 1 on the Nintendo or Sega, a knowledge test and at the end the winning kid got to put on a Velcro vest and beast through a bunch of isles of video games and attach them to himself before time runs out and he walks out with them. Always wanted to go on the show when I was about 6 ha.

The Adventures of Tintin had my favourite animation style. Pretty good mix of being a mystery thriller too and a great atmosphere plus I loved the travel aspect of it. They went to places like the midwest with American gangsters, dictatorships, the moon, etc. Far better than that mediocre Spielberg film.

Plus it had this badass intro song

I liked the Flintstones and many other shows in Quebec, but not sure whether they are strictly Quebec shows or were just translated.

That's beside the obvious like Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, The Smurfs and so on.

Well, lessee here - and mind you most of what I watched until my teens was syndicated programs, as I'd watch them in the afternoons (so we'll look at 1979 - 1987 or so here, prior to high school). Also not including cartoons (that list's too long anyway).
Little House on the Prairie
The Waltons
Welcome Back, Kotter
Newhart
Benson
Night Court
WKRP In Cincinnati
The Monkees
The Cosby Show
Batman (the Adam West/Burt Ward one)
M*A*S*H
Alf
Cheers
Three's Company
Alice
The Jeffersons
Who's the Boss
The Golden Girls
Empty Nest
Barney Miller
The Facts of Life
Happy Days
The Andy Griffith Show
The Odd Couple
Laverne & Shirley
Star Trek (TOS - occasionally)
All In the Family

Shows I used to watch with my father, NOT in syndication:
Grizzly Adams
The Dukes of Hazzard
The Incredible Hulk
Hart to Hart
The A-Team
Knight Rider
Simon and Simon (my dad didn't watch this, but I got to when visiting my mom)
Airwolf (which didn't really last long, to be honest)
Magnum P.I.
The Fall Guy
The Six Million Dollar Man
Buck Rogers

Shows I remember watching and liked at the time, but really don't recall much or, in some cases, don't think much of anymore:
Diff'rent Strokes
Sanford and Son
Taxi
Silver Spoons
Soap (really only saw a couple episodes, liked them, but wasn't syndicated much - the real appeal was that some of the characters and actors from Benson were in it)

There were probably more shows, but I'm not going to try to list everything I watched. I did watch Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, The Love Boat and The Munsters, but never really cared for them that much.

After I got my own TV post-1988:
Reasonable Doubts (watched for a season)
Kate and Allie (it got cancelled just after I started watching it)
L.A. Law (ditto)
Midnight Caller (ditto ditto)
Northern Exposure (didn't watch the final season, but saw all the rest)
well...I guess we're getting into the multitude of shows I watched in my teens which are too numerous to mention now, so we'll skip that.

Suffice it to say, I watched too much TV. But I was also an A student so I can confirm TV doesn't rot your brain.:sarcasm:

My dad used to watch these, too - Real People was the one Sarah Purcell was in, right?

He'd also watch Star Search and Battle of the Network Stars...oh, and Solid Gold.:yo:

Yes, Sarah Purcell hosted along with Skip Stevenson and Byron Allen.

That's Incredible had John Davidson, former NFLer Fran Tarkenton and a female co-host who I can picture but not remember without googling.

I had listed "Battle of The Network Stars" but deleted it, as I can't genuinely remember anything about the show beyond its premise.:)

Mary Tyler Moore was also a favorite.

But many on your list were favorites of mine too.
