Power Play opportunities going down along with scoring. I suggest no leaving feet to block shots, full 2 minute power plays no matter what and no icing the puck while on the PK. Some radical changes are needed.

This week's Facing Off with Matt Pryor focuses on the Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars, taking a closer look at both teams' revamped defence — whether they are better, worse or just different on the back end — and which blue line we prefer in the present and for the future? We also debate whether the Stars will land Ben Bishop, what it would cost and whether he'd be worth it? Lastly, if we could sign one more free agent for the Panthers and Stars, who would it be and why? http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-panthers-and-stars-building-better-blue-lines/

This week's Facing Off with Dan Mount is full of predictions for the upcoming NHL season, including how many (if any) Canadian teams will make the playoffs in 2017. We ask the same question about the "New" teams — as in Islanders/Rangers/Devils — and look at which teams on the rise could take the biggest leap in the standings. Could the Oilers, Jets, Coyotes, Leafs, Sabres and/or Blue Jackets make the playoffs? Are the Predators playoff locks and legitimate Cup contenders? What's with the lack of goalie movement this offseason and what will end up happening with Ben Bishop and Marc-Andre Fleury? And, lastly, will NHL players be participating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea? http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-predicting-partial-playoff-picture/

How does a team that has arguably the top goaltender in the game not have a chance, especially after adding Hall. Schneider has a .930 sv%, I think NJ are locks for the playoffs.

This week's Facing Off with Felix Sicard debates where Jimmy Vesey will sign and who will replace Patrick Roy as the Avs' coach. We list our leading candidates for Colorado's vacancy as well as our frontrunners and dark-horses to land Vesey. We discuss whether Vesey is being overhyped or the real deal, and whether the NHL needs to revisit the NCAA loophole. We also look at who's available to fill the forward holes for Anaheim and Vancouver and which wingers would be the best fits for the Ducks and Canucks: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-forecasting-veseys-future-avs-coach/

This week's Facing Off with Andrew Forbes features our debut podcast debating Jimmy Vesey's signing with the Rangers and Shea Weber's ranking among the top-20 defencemen in the NHL. We discuss the rest of that NHL Network list, a recent trade rumour that has Jacob Trouba going to Toronto for Nazem Kadri and prospects, and we also rehash my offseason standings predictions. Give it a listen and let me know what you think: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-podcast-ridiculing-vesey-to-rangers-and-ranking-weber/

This week's Facing Off with Sebastian Hedley-Noble debates whether Jared Bednar is the right coach to lead the Avs back to the playoffs and whether he'll do a better job than Patrick Roy. We also debate whether it was a smart or stupid move for Florida to give up Lawson Crouse to get rid of Dave Bolland; whether Team Canada made the right decisions by replacing Jamie Benn with Logan Couture and Duncan Keith with Jay Bouwmeester; whether Jiri Hudler is a good fit for the Stars or whether Dallas should have spent that money on somebody else; and whether Alexander Radulov will boom or bust with the Canadiens and whether he'll outlast Michel Therrien in Montreal. Lastly, we discuss why hockey fans should be looking forward to the upcoming documentary Ice Guardians: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-avs-get-coach-stars-get-hudler-canada-gets-criticized/

This week's Facing Off with Anthony Fusco debates all things World Cup of Hockey. What kind of calibre should fans expect? Should Carey Price be Canada's starting goalie? Are injuries the biggest concern? Can North America make the semifinals? Could Europe pull off an upset? Are the Americans built to beat Canada and will they clash for the championship? If not, who wins the World Cup? And will the success of this event impact future Olympic participation for NHL players? I also take a stab at projecting line combinations for Team North America. Lots of fun stuff in this edition: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-setting-up-the-world-cup/

This week's Facing Off with Dan Mount discusses our interest level in the World Cup of Hockey and debates who could lead the tournament in scoring as well as the most lethal line combinations? Which NHL players on PTOs have the best chance of earning contracts? Did the Predators choose the right captain in Mike Fisher? And is hockey evolving towards four scoring lines without any checkers or role players? http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-world-cup-already-living-up-to-hype/

Episode 2 of the Facing Off Podcast with Félix Sicard debates the World Cup, from predictions for the upcoming tournament to our three stars in the exhibition games. We also debate unsigned restricted free agents and remaining unrestricted free agents before closing the show with our thoughts on Bodog's Stanley Cup odds for the 2016-17 NHL season: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-podcast-world-cup-predictions-to-stanley-cup-odds/

This week's Facing Off with Andrew Forbes debates all things World Cup from the last seven days. That includes whether Europe has any chance against Canada in the best-of-three final or will it be a convincing sweep? Will this tournament be remembered for the success of Team North America? Will we get to see another version of TNA in 2020 or who should replace that under-24 squad? Who should shoulder the blame for Team USA's failures? And who have been our three stars to this point? http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-world-cup-winding-down-but-whos-winning/

This week's Facing Off with Sebastian Hedley-Noble wraps up the World Cup and puts the spotlight back on the upcoming NHL season. We make a couple predictions based on what we saw at the World Cup. We also debate where Jacob Trouba will end up and whether other RFAs could be traded, while discussing which training-camp battles are the most intriguing to us: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-wrapping-up-world-cup-trading-trouba/

This week's Facing Off with Sebastian Hedley-Noble debates Nazem Kadri's hit on Daniel Sedin, whether he should have suspended and who was to blame for that donnybrook, plus the Canucks' scoring woes and whether they should be trying to "buy" a 20-goal guy, whether Michel Therrien should have left Al Montoya in for all 10 goals and whether the Canadiens could come crashing down again. We also look at potential landing spots for Jaroslav Halak and the mediocre starts for the Panthers and Avalanche, whether they will go up or down from here: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-debating-kadri-canucks-canadiens/

This week's Facing Off with Andrew Forbes debates Canada's roster and medal chances at the upcoming world juniors. Who were the surprises and snubs of the selection camp invites? Which NHLers could/should join the fold? What will be the strengths and weaknesses of this year's team? And who will be Canada's biggest competition at this tournament? Of course, we also play GM and pick our 22-man roster for Team Canada: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-picking-team-canada-for-world-juniors/

This week's Facing Off with Shane Sander and Todd Moritz debates the Oilers-Flames rivalry and which Alberta team will finish higher in the standings, plus Connor McDavid's war of words with Brandon Manning and his leadership to date. We also debate whether Taylor Hall and/or Carey Price should have been suspended for their actions last week, whether the Sedins or Max Pacioretty could be traded this season, and whether NHL players will be participating at the 2018 Olympics: http://thehockeywriters.com/facing-off-oilers-or-flames-who-finishes-higher/

Torts is going strong in Columbus; Gallant wasn't even on the radar. Nearing the halfway mark, I'd like to see the topic revisited.

BTW: I'll own my Coyotes love and Dave Tippett bias; so, my motives are several fold.
