I'm not a fan of it, but I don't hate it. I know that Eller has value, but I just will miss Halak.

I just hope that PG has other changes in store because we will suck hard next year if the only change is Eller to replace Plekanec...

article_23927_2.jpg

In a trade completed late last night, the Los Angeles Kings added a key part to the young team in James Neal, who has been excellent so far for the Dallas Stars in his time.

"We feel that James has plenty of potential to be a first line winger, he can hit, score and has a superb shot." said Kings GM Dean Lombardi.

The entire deal went like this, the Dallas Stars acquired young defenseman Jack Johnson and young goaltender Jonathan Bernier, it was publicly stated that either Quick or Bernier was gonna go, but GM Lombardi had no second thoughts on acquiring these players. The Kings got James Neal, defenseman Nicklas Grossman and prospect goaltender Tyler Beskorowany.

"We are going to re-sign both James and Nicklas, as they are both excellent young players who have plenty of potential."

Both Neal and Grossman are up and coming Restricted Free Agents.

We wish Jack and Jonathan best of luck in Dallas.

I'd be all for this trade at the draft. I really want Chimera in a Murray trade though.

Philadelphia Acquires Steve Mason and John Moore

To :cbj: Jeff Carter and Zac Rinaldo

The Philadelphia Flyers have decided to trade Center Jeff Carter after their run to the Stanley Cup Finals. The organization traded Carter for what looks to be their starting goaltender for now and the future. "We are sad to see Jeff go but we were running out of room on our roster as we want to give the likes of van Riemsdyk and Giroux a more prominent role with the team." Flyers GM HC said in regards to this trade. "Jeff was a great player for us but getting Mason along with players that will fill other needs was something to good to pass up. We now have a stable goaltender for our future and look forward to. With this deal we are officially moving on from Michael Leighton. We'd like to thank Mike for his service here but he is just not in our future." When asked about the the other parts of the deal the GM had this to say "We acquired one of the best defensive prospects in the world right now in John Moore along with one of the better third line centers in the league. We also received a defenseman that we can trust in important moments in games in Methot."

Flyers New Lineup:
Simon Gagne - Mike Richards - Claude Giroux
Scott Hartnell - Danny Briere - Ville Leino
James van Riemsdyk - Sammy Pahlsson - ?????
Ian Laperriere - Blair Betts - Dan Carcillo

Chris Pronger - Matt Carle
Kimmo Timonen - Braydon Coburn
Marc Methot - Ryan Parent

Steve Mason

And announce we've traded Roman Hamrlik to the New York Islanders for a 5th round pick in the 2010 draft. We needed the cap space, and although it may be bad asset management, we're happy with it.
