This was his 10th game of the season, which 'burns' the first season of his ELC. It otherwise would have slid to next year. Personally I think it's worth it, to get the kid the experience at this level. He's got a bright future.
I expect him to be back in the AHL for their playoffs (assuming the Caps don't make it themselves.)

Is this accurate? If he's in the A, still part of the same contract so a year is gone?

He's going to be very good. A first line sniping winger. Could end up one of the best players from the 2022 draft. I love that he's on the Caps (even though it will hurt my team at some point) because he gets to learn from Ovi. He's like a mini Ovi.
