Boldy is my coup de coeur pick in the USDP, I love his way of thinking the game and slowing it down.

CAufield biggest attribute is his PP skills, which are now extremely in demand in the NHL ( we are seeing team building their team for the PP)
Boldy is the only one who doesn't have the 'slight, smallish' knock to him (Zegras to an extent as well), the offense could explode, the overall game could explode. Agree he has very appealing traits in the offensive zone, good playmaker, seems to get all of it more often then not when shooting

I actualy think that Caufield will have a better NHL career than Jack. Caufield will score over 40+ and will become a PP beast on the same level as Ovi

Heh Wouldn’t that be perfectly fitting? Every year a candidate for the Maurice Trophy could be a hab’s sniper?

Just had better u-18s. And I mean, he scored better there, with a higher goal-to-assist ratio and the same amount of points, and a better plus/minus. Yes, I know statkeeping swallowed 2 of his assists, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen.

Again, it was a very popular opinion that Caufield was team USA's best player at u-18s.
Well then i guess hes better than kaapo kaako too!

(seriously, you're claiming the kid that went 15 should've went first. if you cant see how stupid that is i don't really know what to tell you)

Shoulda Dabrincat go top 3 ? yes, he should have went top 5 in that draft, hell even top 3 before Laine.

Dabrincat could have even went #2 OV in 2016, so please, stop. we never know what a second round, or even worst, a #15 OV should have went.

If you're going to use him in your argument we should probably spell his name right eh?

its also been 4 months since the draft, not 4 years. pretty significant difference IMO...

you should quit while you're ahead buddy.

To the rationale Habs fans out there (not you) I watched caufield alot and hes an amazing prospect. steal at 15. Playing with Hughes helped but by no means did he need him. that shot is magic, and his abilities with the puck on his stick/ through the neutral zone are underrated for sure.

1 year or 2 years difference won’t matter to him, he will break Kyle Connor’s record cause that’s just how Cole Caufield’s mentality is set at. To prove people wrong he has to make the old records bite the dust by breaking them. Matthews record in NTDP, Connor’s record in NCAA are all standing there to be over shadowed by his.

Connors record in the NCAA wasn't as impressive as some people claim.
To say the B1G10 was trash that year would be an understatement.

His game, outside on the PP, is far from NHL ready.

He needs to get quicker and stronger in my opinion. I can see him signing and joining Laval in the AHL at the end of his NCAA season, however I think a full year in the AHL next season would do wonders for him. Hey, if he's ready before that, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I would be too but that doesn't mean he couldn't benefit from two years. A lot more players get rushed compared to seeing their NHL rights-holders be patient with them, especially with the college free agent loop-hole.

The Habs have rushed just about every top prospect they have to the NHL at some point under the current GM so I fully expect him to be signed and in the NHL.

This weekend is a great test for him and his team though, should be very interesting to see how it goes.

Habs especially has history of rushing so there's little doubt he'd remain in NCAA if he has a successful rookie showing.

MTL love to rush kids to fill holes and our powerplay is one of the worst in the entire league I have no doubts in my mind this kid could make the team next year and be a pp threat. He has a better shot than anybody on the team right now

Damage control: ENGAGE!
What damage needs to be controlled? 2 NCAA games? Where he continued scoring of the PP, some of which with cross-ice setups he won't get with the Habs? If you looked at his play at MTL camp he wasn't dominant at all, some kept a good memory because he scored in the shootout. If you removed the shooting highlights, I haven't seen indications of an NHL ready player with his NCAA play, especially factoring his size of 5'7. People think he is ready only by looking at the score sheet. Reminds me when many thought Tolvanen could help NAS in the playoff after his season in the KHL, a position I didn't share at the time even though I was pretty high on him at the moment of the draft. I said Caufield is a high-risk high-reward pick, he scores goals regularly or he is nothing, a risk I wouldn't have taken factoring some other options but he may very well pay off, possibly filling exactly the need MTL desperately needed, I still stand by that. If he turns to be the BPA I won't fall off my chair. His shot is so exceptional, he is certainly something to get excited about, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Outside of using him as a trigger man of the PP, his game is far from NHL ready.
