Minny probable gave them their 1st rounder to not pick Staal or something.

Can you imagine McPhee going into the 1st round on Friday with 10 1st round picks!!

McPhee is the GM responsible for the rebuild in Washington yrs. back when Jagr was traded amongst many, drafting Ovechkin & building one of the most prolific offensive teams since the 1980's Oilers. He's a very dedicated hockey man, Vegas is already doing quite well with Gallant(HC) and Shipachev1st line center, not much will surprise this fan. But 10 - 1st rounders, that would qualify.

A 1st rounder to not pick Staal but how about Dumba? Scandella?

Who knows what deals may be happening, all good ones for Vegas no doubt, McPhee is definitely one of the NHL's best evaluator's of young talent. They are building through the draft, he's been vocal about that as was Bergevin when he became GM, it's the only way in the salary cap era.:nod::nod:

LOL if they go into the draft with 10+ 1st rounders it would be an amazing sight. Then they repackage those 1st rounders for better ones possibly

I doubt we see 10 x 1st round picks traded. Lots of people will be disappointed.

It's just an expansion draft. Lots of marginal and overpayed guys moving around. Nothing to see here.

Is Bettman going to "We have a trade to announce" the whole evening tomorrow or how is this going to work?

I thought I read today that Vegas will announce their roster tomorrow, have some of the players they are keeping there at the awards and then announce the trades friday.

In truth it should be "My American buddy gets the next pick, and the pick after that, and the pick after that, and the pick after ...".

"After all, he is my pal and it really doesn't matter as long as my American buddy can get all he wants."

Meanwhile, Bettman said that if Quebec City is to get a team, it will be a failed franchise moving there.

Naaah can't be! This is lame, if they select Haula from Minnesota, I want to know what the heck happened there right away not Friday...

It would be boring as **** if he just reads 30 names and calls it an evening...

Does anyone know when we get announcements on the Vegas side deals? Is it before the expansion draft or after i guess? Don’t they have to be filed this morning?

Ok it was Lebrun on tsn that said this. The side deals that vegas have made for them not to take a certain player from a team will be announced tomorrow night with the roster. All the side deals have to be submitted by 10 am est tomorrow with the roster picks. Deals that they have made with other teams trading for a player from a different team ( example: Habs telling them to take brodin for x player) they will be announced on Friday. It starts at 1:40 http://www.tsn.ca/radio/montreal-690/lebrun-habs-content-to-wait-out-expansion-draft-1.784518

Ok this makes more sense. It's what I thought.

Friday they will just trade players as normal, even if they agreed before the draft.

Found this post interesting, in terms of what likely awaits those future Vegas players:

Lived there for a while, worked for a company that had accounts for the casino's.

The biggest problem most players will find is the 24 hour schedule. The city is always open for whatever you want. Doesn't have to be imported, it's already there.

Also means that your neighbors might have a different awake time then you. Actually, most likely.

1. High cost of living(everything, mostly, is shipped in)
2. Dangerous; plenty of people trying to rip you off
3. Travel; withing the city, from the west to east can be horrible.
4. Keeping up with the people as a wealthy person; if you think making 2 million a year in LV makes you someone, you're very wrong.
5. The water; not only is it going away, but most good water is shipped in, and the tap water is horrible.

If some of these rumours are true, I don't understand wtf McPhee is doing.

For example taking on Grabo/Kulemin so he could get a first and taking Haula and a prospect.

The Islanders have some good young guys available like Nelson, this draft sucks so why not just take a younger guy like Nelson and not take on the two plugs.

Also for Minnesota, you have all the leverage and could take Dumba.. why not just take the 22 year old defenceman who can help your team for several years.

Maybe the talk about wanting Vegas to be good from the start is overblown and McPhee is aiming for a few years of tanking and building through the draft. Not that Dumba would be bad pick in either case, mind you.

Vegas will received picks from the next 3 years not just this year. They won't have 10 picks in the first round that would be too many young players to sign at the same time.

Impossible...that won't ever happen

Look for Vegas to spread out their 1st round picks over the next 2-3yrs.

It would be nearly impossible to sign 10 1st round picks

Fully expecting Alexei Emelin to get picked...

He may not be the most popular Hab, but he's an experienced Dman, both in the NHL and internationally, he spent the majority of last year playing on the top pair with Shea Weber and he's a MUCH better trading asset at the next deadline than Plekanec or Hudon are.

Hell, I'd want to keep Emelin for that reason alone
