I don't know why year after year we ice garbage preseason teams while every other team puts it together much faster and gets real practice games in with their NHL unit. There is no advantage to never having our systems going until the season starts. You could argue it's a good idea if there was ever a point in the last few years that it worked. We did this during the Sedin era but that was a veteran team and they were ready to go preseason or not and the rest was therefore worth it.

seattle only dressed 1 of their top 5 dmen and sat their whole top line. joey d'accord is their third string goalie. this wasn't a case of the canucks b-squad going up against seattle's ringers.

D'Accord is their backup, Driedger is going to the AHL. Both Oleksiak and Schultz played which were 2 of their top-5 defencemen in ice-time last season. But yes, it was a weaker roster than the previous two games.

Oh they absolutely didn't field all their guys but I'm more annoyed at us not fielding ours the way edm and cgy did. But seems like Tocchet has said the last two will be the squad. So we'll see.

But at some point, we have to win a couple of these games or we're hooped.
We're losing value points in the standings with these losses!

The next game at home we'll see a more legitimate lineup that's closer to what opening night will look like.

Banking some confidence points is just as important as standings points.

Yes.
