Nice, it means we're in for a great Crosby season!

....unless Crosby gets injured too, in which case Malkin is going to roar back and burn villages after Christmas.

Was already known that him and Crosby were going to miss the start of the year.

Not sure how this team stays above water without their two best players. Hopefully they can survive the storm and get them back healthy.

But hey, half of the boards premonitions of the Penguins finally not making the playoffs may actually come true this year!

This team constantly has injuries to it's top players. Last year was no different and STILL won the division.
What they'll do in the playoffs is the mystery.. but they'll be fine in the regular season.

Malkin was playing very well when he got in better condition last year. He when healthy is a good as it gets center and Pens with Sid are still really still a tough out. Jarry cost them vs the Isles but never count out the Pens if Sid and Geno are able to stay healthy. With Jake, Kapanen, Zucker, Rust and Carter still can put some nice lines out there if healthy.

Would be nice to see one more malkin, crosby run before he inevitably packs his bags for the KHL retirement tour but with this news thats becoming more and more unlikely.

Hope he's ready to go in time to make a playoff run. Hopefully it's a run in the playoffs and not a run needed to get into the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the trend that when one of Crosby/Malkin is out (which is often), the healthy one tends to take their game to the next level and carries the team.

In this case, both are hurt to start the season, which means the team will play amazing defense and go 6-1 while giving up 1.7 goals per game. Then Sid will come back and the rest of the team will relax and play pond hockey for 2 months and they'll try to keep their head above water by winning games 5-4.

He should just hang them up already

Pittsburgh isnt contending for anything anyway

This guys gonna be cooked soon, sucks to see. An absolute force when he's healthy.

He was just the 2nd best Pens forward in the playoffs. If anything he’ll probably be lights out this year. Especially playing for a big contract.

Such a shame such a phenom is pretty much always injured these days. Often overlooked in the Sid v Ovy, but when Malkin was on he was the best player on the planet.

Unless his body is destroyed I think he should continue to play as long as he wants. He's still a great player.

And Penguins won their division last year.
[QUOTE="Sens, post: 180191400, member: 264199"he should forget about cashing in like Ovechkin 9x4[/QUOTE]
Penguins should not give him that money given his injury history. I think I've written earlier that a 6-7 million at the most would be okay. Because Penguins can't just throw money on him and have him on LTIR for huge stretches of the seasons.
