I doubt the NHL cares. The only thing that makes them look bad is if the players aren't getting paid, the rest is Melnyk's problem.

No one is going to swoop in and save the day.

The NHL wouldn't have any entitlement.

That being said I am sure they can demand financial disclosure from franchises and franchise owners as they require.

Basically calling him a dick for not admitting that 185 pounds is approximately 190, and say that he is being "silly" in his response about his signature.

This will likely burn $20,000 of Eugene's cash at a minimum.

There is a hearing scheduled for December 17 but that doesn't necessarily resolve it.

I don't think it is silly, but it is serving its purpose. Melnyk's lawyers know what they are doing and I'm sure their strategy is all set. This is not meant to be seen as a defence for him, just stating that the legal profession is what it is with regards to this type of stuff. Some lawyers love these types of clients, others may not...but so long as the cheques clear (for them lol) they can pretty much do anything "silly" and have it work for them
