We have some posters here who have some experience in the field of lawyering:

I assume there is a point to denying Mohegan's assessments of Melnyk's height and weight at the time? There's always a point!

Outside that, nothing really caught my layman eye. Anybody see anything notable?

I assume the vitals came from a piece of ID or were written on the credit application.

I guess it might show that the casino is sloppy and Melnyk is detailed and precise.

Denies the social security number is a curious one. Did he falsify or use one from another country at the time? Honest mistake? Stay tuned for the next episode of melnyk court.

obviously them asking for proof he can pay is fairly explosive

When an NHL is being sued by a Casino and he denies his own weight and height, he’s winning.

Melnyck is a bum

Canadian citizens do not have social security numbers. We have social insurance numbers.

This is weird. In the exhibits that were tweeted out, the date of the dishonored bank draft is March 19, 2019. Everything before this was for March 19, 2017. Is this a typo in the filing?

Canadian citizens do not have social security numbers. We have social insurance numbers.

It's definitely possible for a Canadian citizen of his history and the nature of his former business (extensive pharma history in the U.S.) to have a Social Security Number, though.

SSN's can be issued to temporary residents of the US, as well as foreign citizens in general, depending on some circumstances. Especially for the purposes of any tax liability, or (I'm not sure about this one, but I've heard) major loans from U.S. banks.

He could have (or had) both a SIN and a SSN.

Sigh, I was simply positing an idea for why the SSN# could have been denied and not admitted. I will know better next time than to make a definitive statement when I am merely making a suggestion. I have obviously mistaken the threshold required for posting on this forum. Naturally I will preface all future comments with the necessary provisos.

It's all good, man! No one was attacking your position, just adding context to the discussion.

I think people far too often interpret any non-agreement as hostile on these boards, when it absolutely shouldn't be... Even though considering the highly contentious nature of the fanbase over the past couple of years, I certainly would forgive anyone for assuming the opposite.

Don't ever get discouraged from posting, my dude! This (as all discussions on HFSens, IMO) should be a collaborative discussion, not an exclusionary one.

It is quite possible they said SSN and used his SIN, which is a reasonable denial.

It is also possible he used his SIN where a credit application asked for SSN and that is what they are using.

My experience with going to school in the US is that they use theirs more than we use ours, although we get asked for ours far too often imo.

Would be a good way for students to find a short cut through assignments etc..., find decent message boards on whatever topic you need then post loose facts etc.. and let the members tell you where and why your stuff was wrong, a quick fact check on the suggested changes and your on your way! lol

Dont know how you can source some of the posters here and remain APA format.

Do you really think hockey forums would fall under the APA style guide? That's typically reserved for scientific papers, this forum feels more like an MLA shop to me... I could see the history of hockey sub forum using Chicago, and the by the numbers forum using APA, but for the average Joe-Smo just looking to post shit about how much the leafs suck, MLA all the way.

Unrelated, but I'm impressed at the number of kids out trick-or-treating in the rain tonight.

As expected, Ottawa kids are far more hardcore than those wimpy Montreal kids who need the city to cancel Hallowe'en and move it to an entirely different month just because it's jacket weather outside.

Proud of these kids, they're earning their upset stomachs tonight.

The day kids say no to getting free candy because of rain will be a sad day indeed.
