No love for Mark Scheifele. Last time the Jets had a team this good back in 2017-2018 he went on a tear in the playoffs. 14 goals, 6 assists in 17 games.

At this point the ESPN content could be entirely generated by AI and nobody would notice or care
This article has no author. I may as well presume nobody wrote it.

Yeah that's atrocious. Kucherov is probably the MVP and clearly the most proven playoff performer out of anyone currently in the playoffs, having him at #6 is disrespect. Worst he should be is 2.

There’s another article from ESPN today that claims to make a “bold” prediction for each playoff team.

It’s pretty low effort because their predictions for the Western Conference are vague and non-committal, while the Eastern Conference is totally fleshed out, but they have Toronto and Carolina in the ECF, with Toronto going on to win the Cup.

Obviously there’s a giant Matthews fanboy who got turned on by the 69 goals and got bored when asked to put in the same effort for the other half of the league.

The fact that Joe Pavelski, with 139 playoff points including 73 goals (18 game winners!) - behind only OV8 and Kucherov amongst active players in this year's post season - is only an 'honourable mention' is laughable. Did anyone look at context here? I'd have him on my playoff team in a heartbeat.

Also, Zibanejad would be my Conn Smyth dark-horse punt, let alone an honourable mention.
Bewildering.

The pressure has been put on Auston Matthews to be the best player in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Godspeed.

1 should be McDavid
2/3 MacKinnon and Kucherov on either order
Easy top 3, Matthews has done nothing to prove he’s a top 3 playoff player and he wasn’t even a top 3 player this year (close 4th)

The list was already pretty bad, but I almost grimaced when I saw Ekblad at 37 above Eichel, Stone, Slavin, Marner, Nylander, Forsberg etc.
