Time to put the past in the past and move on to Matchweek 8. The headliner is, of course, the match between last year's title contenders, with Arsenal hosting a suddenly human-looking Manchester City, who will be without De Bruyne and Rodri. However, Arsenal faces injury woes as their own, as they may have to go without their two starting wingers. Elsewhere, we have a few relegation six pointers, with Burnley hosting Chelsea, Everton hosting Bournemouth, and Fulham welcoming Sheffield United. Teams in Europe also clash, with Brighton welcoming Liverpool to the south coast for a match integral to Champions League hopes and West Ham hosting the Magpies.

If Arsenal played as they did against Lens, a de Bruyne and Rodri-less Man City would still put six past us.

Spurs injuries right now are very concentrated on the wing.

Perisic - Out for most of the season.
Solomon - 2-3 months.
Johnson - Not called up to Wales. Who knows how long he will be out.
Gil - Been out for a while but should be back soon.

So Spurs fit attackers right now are Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski and Veliz. They do have some good academy players to give a chance like Santiago and Donley though.

Hope Johnson and Gil will be back after the international break at least.

He'll still get rope since 3 of his 4 starting backs are out.

But the fact is the offensive attack has been anemic basically his entire tenure. It's basically been Rashford or bust. Hojlund might be his saving grace here.
Bruno has been good as well. He’s just forced to track back more than he should or play out wide.

He should be canned for bad results/off field shitshows but won’t be. Maybe if they lose to Copenhagen? But again two straight wins to Copenhagen (which isn’t asking a lot) makes things look a lot better

Oh he definitely covers too much ground. Even last year though when his metrics for generating chances were huge.....the team goal totals were paltry in comparison. There's just something that's not been clicking for awhile. Trying to remember the last time a goal was scored on a well-worked combination play in tight around the box after a sustained possession. It's usually individual efforts + quick strike attacks.

Need to hope Gil and Donley will be good for this weekend

When did Solomon get hurt? didn't he play a half hour against Liverpool?

They won't sack Ten Hag until the New Year at least, and likely not even then. A good UEL run (assuming they finish 3rd in their group) could save him.

3 points is vital for Chelsea here, given the run of fixtures following this one.

I just heard that Son isn't training with the team. Will be a doubt for Saturday too. Klinsmann will still call him up and run him to the ground for Korea though...

In training apparently. Just like Perisic recently and Gil during preseason. Not sure if it's just a coincidence or Ange needs to change something.

Tagging @Jersey Fresh because I know he talks about him a bit.

Damn that sucks. He can’t catch a break, same thing last season.

Supporting the return of Greenwood is a very bad look but that was obviously an issue throughout the entirety of the leadership. Wouldn't really be fair to ax him for that. He can't control was his players do off the field.

It’s a strike against him. And he advocated for him. If the results stay bad Man Utd certainly have an out; but again I think two wins against Copenhagen quiets things down

Saka's availability is the huge question mark here. I think he'll be able to play based on Arteta's answer. Partey also will be in the squad; I wonder if he starts and we play Rice as the 8.
