NHL is a big old boys club and the whole sport is filled with people with no formal education or work experience other than playing sports ball in a coddled environment.

There's an advantage to be taken by meeting the standards that any comparably large company outside sports bubble does.
Its funny. We had a young gm that did terrible in Arizona and everyone laughed at him. But I also wonder how much of that is the old boys club around the league hating that a new young guy was there and wanted to do little to help.

Its kind of also shown a bit in how Dubas was pissed at the idea that he would help the Oilers in any way.
I've started to wonder if the old boys club don't almost..."bully" and abuse and treat the young not as connected guys like shit. Making their lives and jobs harder.
Not making excuses for them but I couldn't imagine jumping into that old boys club.
