It's just a show.

And not a very good one. The ASG is totally lame. In my mind, it lacks a lot of what makes hockey exciting without checking / defense. It makes the game pretty oe dimensional.

I have not watched many ASGs for that very reason.

The skills competition is kind of neat....

I will agree, skills competition is interesting to watch, but the ASG itself suuuuucks.
