Russian Coach Bilyaletdinov wants to invite all the best possible players. the squad should be released in the next 3 days.

Sweden will bring as many NHLers as possible, too. Roster on Monday. Would be interesting if we could get Malkin, Kovy, Pavel, Zetterberg, Backstrom, Karlsson etc. to play this tourney.

1. Varlamov is injured or ill. They wouldn't say more in Yaroslavl.(No need to test him anyway. I don't think Bill ever intended to have him there.)
2. Anisimov is an absolute lock.
3. Syomin will probably get no call. He's awful right now. Even Ovechkin's asking wouldn't help like it did for WC.
4. Kulyomin and Zherdev will be on that roster.
5. I'm sure we will see no Tikhonov.
6. No Gonchar. Sure thing.(Applies to the olympic roster too)
7. No Denisov if nothig extraordinay happens.
8. No Korneev. Why should HE be there? There is BIG bunch of defencemen in the KHL better thanhim.
9. Nikitin and Chudinov only if they get squezed in. Both aren't the caliber this season.
10. Wild guess. Tarasenko and Kuznetsov could get some rest as Bill will call up some older guys for this one tournament.

My humble prediction:

Perezhogin - Malkin - Popov(Mozyakin)
Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Radulov
Kovalchuk - Shipachyov - Zherdev
Kulyomin - Anisimov - Shirokov

Zaripov, Morozov, Kuznetsov, Tarasenko could replace Popov, Perezhogin or Shirokov. Basically if Bill will take Zaripov and Morozov, they probably end up with Malkin.

Nikulin - Medvedev
Yemelin - Kalinin
Ryasensky - Belov
Tyutin - Biryukov

Nikitin, Chudinov are possible replacements. For the next tournaments there is a bunch young guys who earned a chance.

The D will be nowhere near the olympic roster, due to injury to Kulikov and the fact that we have two good youngsters playing in the AHL right now.

Barulin will probably take the no.1 spot. I for my part would invite young goaltenders for tis tournament, but it's up to Bill.

Sorry, yes i forgot Belov, i didnt knew what Varlamov has, he was not on the ice for the 5 or 6 games.

Mozyakin has great stats, i also want him at this tourney, but i think bill will ignore him again, like Mamashev, D. Makarov & Varnakov....
khl_stats_new_4-12vk0t.png

Syomin didnt play in the last games & his coach said he will also not play in the upcoming games.

Kuznetsov & Tarasenko are must have's, they played all the last stages @ the EHT.

Zaripov & Morozov should be a much better choice than shirokov. is he so good at the moment? didnt saw the last cska games. Zaripov & Morozov show great hockey in the last weeks, their stats are also very good right now.

Mamashev is not for this particular roster. Maybe at some EHT stage later. Varnakov is god awful in his last 10 games or so. Don't even know what's wrong with him but he's definitely not NT material right now. D.Makarov will never be. Syomin is officially scratched by Jalonen. Everybody who watches the games knows why. It's his attitude. He's not even trying. Saw him in person. He was an embarassment. Lazy floating along the blue line, not even a sign of effort. He was killing his line's play.
and you can't put Zaripov and Morozov on the checking line. Bill always has a checking line. Shirokov is a hard worker with no big ego who would do the job on the 4th line and be happy.

I have absolutey nothing against Shirikov, but he was injured - i didnt saw him playing after he's comeback, so i dont want to say something wrong.

Mamashev is a scoring beast this year. he must play minum one stage.

you r right, d. makarov & varnakov are no candidates. but this was only an example of billyaletdinovs ignoring players.

i hope bill will disclose the secret by tomorrow.

Wow, looks like this tournament could be the only chance we could see all the big names Malkin, Zetterberg, Koivu, etc. playing on the same ice all year (until WCs).

With players like Danielsson, Persson, Enroth, Ahnelöv, Burström, Viklund and Erixon, Sweden is gonna lose all 3 games. Again. Sweden has lost 12 last games in EHT i think. Insane.

If I weren't a Swede, I'd read at least half of the team as complete nonamers. The defense is just that bad imo, too.

Team Finland:

Goalkeepers:
30 Ari Ahonen, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, RUS
31 Joni Ortio, HIFK

Defense:
2 Teemu Laakso, Severstal Cherepovets, RUS
4 Ilari Melart, HIFK
5 Lasse Kukkonen, Rögle, SWE
6 Atte Ohtamaa, Kärpät
7 Mikko Mäenpää, TsSKA Moscow, RUS
15 Kristian Näkyvä, JYP
18 Sami Lepistö, Lokomotiv Jaroslavl, RUS
22 Teemu Eronen, Jokerit

Forwards:
12 Jori Lehterä, Sibir Novosibirsk, RUS
19 Tuomas Kiiskinen, Donbass Donetsk, UKR
21 Tommi Huhtala, Blues
23 Jere Sallinen, HPK
24 Ville Koho, SaiPa
25 Jonas Enlund, Sibir Novosibirsk, RUS
26 Oskar Osala, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk,RUS
27 Kristian Kuusela, Blues

41 Antti Pihlström, Salavat Yulaev Ufa, RUS
42 Toni Kähkönen, Kärpät
46 Teemu Ramstedt, Blues
50 Juha-Matti Aaltonen, Rögle, SWE

This team is hilarious in a sad way. Decent goaltending and a few good KHL players, but that's about it. I was hoping to see Komarov on this list, but I guess they decided to go with a less experienced roster this time around.

Is this a joke? I change my mind, Sweden will atleast win over Finland.

I wonder what will be czech roster ... :)

I'd like to see in our team this NHL players Voracek, Hanzal, Milan Michalek, Plekanec, Frolik, Roman Polak, Sobotka, Krejci, Hemsky, Kindl ... i think all of them are healthy ... + they can't be tired - depends if they want to be with their families etc.

too bad Smid and Cervenka are injured

with addition of Petruzalek, Caslava, Nakladal, Salak, Rolinek, Klepis, Krejcik, Koukal etc. ... it can be very solid team ... :handclap:

one wish .. pls no Popperle - I don't like him

lets wait for Hadamczik's roster :)

The Finnish roster for the Russian EHT has always been the weak because the coach allows the more true-and-tried players to have a relaxed Christmas with their families, but this is pretty no-name even compared to previous entries.

The defense is interesting in the sense that it does have some guys who are genuinely worth checking out with the depth we currently have. Näkyvä is most interesting given how this is his first time, but I'll also be watching how Eronen and Laakso fare now that they'll very likely be having even more prominent roles than in Karjala Cup.

I'm happy to see Melart on that roster, he's much better player than people often seem to think. Can play well with or without the puck, at least in SM-liiga. And of course the size doesn't hurt either...

Wouldn't be surprised if some NHL team would bring Melart over in 2-3 years, at least just to try him in AHL.

That most certainly isn't the case this year since there's two rounds in SM-liiga between this tournament and Christmas.

I can't see this Finnish squad beating anyone in this tournament.

If this team even manages to score more than three times in the entire tournament, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Wooooaah, I like optimism but too much is too much. They score 0, at best.

Im not saying we need to bring the NHL players, or even all best non-NHL players, I wouldnt mind promising young players, but we're just throwing into plane bunch of guys that would never make it in the World Championships team or better.. And couple old old EHT-Jyrä's. Whats the point in this? These are good hockey players, but this is the National team.. Only few real NT talents are in, and basicly all the top end NT talent is out. I mean the point should be to bring players, that could actually crack in real tournaments at best. Should not bring any players that could not "ever" do it, theres no point for that really.

He's just giving Xmas holiday for the good players? Ilari melart, maybe he hates him so much he bringed him lol. Well, then again the U20 is coming so for the youngest, its good to just player there, and its just EHT, but I would've still liked to see the lions having solid roster with potentional real-tournament-players.

Swedens roster isnt that bad, there is several of Swedens best players there. There is no excuses to fail yet again.
