Problem is Hunt could be sheltered a la Leddy on Chicago if we had a stable d core. We don't. Everyone is scrambling.
and putting Schultz and Hunt together is lunacy.
He world be if he was playing bottom minutes with mostly pp timelol Hunt played the 3rd most minutes on our team last game. He is an AHL/7th NHL D/PP specialist
Petry and Marincin looked like the best duo this team has had in years.
I just don't see any logic that justifies not having these guys in the lineup playing together.
Them plus Fayne/Nikitin gives you two solid duos and a huge improvement over last year. Doesn't seem like rocket science.
Schultz/Ferrence as the bottom pairing getting mostly special teams ice time. Schultz PP, Ferrence PK.
IMO Klef instead of Ferrence, but whatever.
Nurse back to junior and you make a move over summer to free up a spot for him.
Finally Petry has some help, looks better (worth something in a trade), is happier (signs a contract) and now you have a player that is worth something to your team and other teams.
The thing about Hunt is that despite the positives about his game (his ability to hold the puck in the blue line, his ability to shoot, his ability to move the puck laterally on the blue) the negatives about his game are what's killing us as a team.I thought Hunt did pretty well so far.
Sure he's got some mistakes, like this GIF, to iron out, but so do apparently the goalies. That should have been a save right there.
I think some posters are too hard on Hunt. Just picking apart every mistake that he makes and not saying **** about the good plays he makes.
Do the same inquisition for Nurse, Shultz, and others instead of focusing sole attention on Hunt's boners.
Only good thing about the GIF is that Yaks was in position with his stick in the right place to intercept a pass.
