Well, according to the article, the Canes would only be interested in executing the trade after he has been placed on waivers and cleared.

Pretty much, he played the first game of the season and has been out since with concussion symptoms. He’s skated in practices, but no where close to returning. Been on LTIR for a few weeks now.

Acquiring JP would reduce Carolinas available LTIR relief though.

They’d still have plenty of space. $8.6M if my math is right, not sure if adding Puljujarvi’s $3M and subtracting Kase’s $1.5M from the LTIR pool actually is as simple as that though.

Yes I read that. The interesting part is that some sort of move has to happen tomorrow so Yamamoto can come off of LTIR.
