This guys disagrees... ;)

Murray on trading Fasth: "Viktor is a class act and a great guy. He battled to get back. Viktor is going to be a No. 1 in Edmonton."

Dubnyk was a no. 1 here too.

But seriously, I think this is a good move. Low risk and there's a chance Scrivens and/or Fasth could become legit #1 goalies.

lol Anyone playing here is likely a No. 1 :)

I like this deal too, in perfect world both guys would turn into legit starters forcing us to move one of them for pieces to fill other holes.

Meh. its not a bad deal by any means but its another one of Mact saying "hey look how active I am" when acquiring next to nothing.

We're basically relying on career backups to be #1's, and im sure people will be fooled just like they were with Garon into thinking a good season makes a goalie.

At least these two goalies battle and have heart.

Compared to the jabrones in the pipe the last bunch of years, it at least makes me feel better. Feelings. I can start with those.

Hopefully they push each other efficiently.

I think most people are just happy to have both these guys get to show their stuff over the rest of this season. Between these two it is likely that one will rise to the challenge.

A week ago both our goalies were pending UFAs. Now we have options going into next season, and anything we build on now we can continue onward with

I'm pretty happy with this trade. Didn't give up a prospect or a 2nd rounder in the next draft and we got something we needed.

Fasth could be the PERFECT 1B goalie we need with Scrivens. If he plays well next year he'll earn himself an extension and then we can stop worrying about goaltending for a while. Wow... I can't believe I just said that.

Gotta hand it to Mac-T here. He made the move that fixed our future and he didn't give anything significant.

The thing I like most about this Fasth-Scrivens tandem is that both guys are hungry and are hard workers. They're going to push each other--mentally, it's not that easy to slack off when you see the guy competing for the same job you are working his butt off, especially when you have a good work ethic yourself

What excites me the most is if either of them gets injured, we have Bachman as a back up who has played pretty well in the AHL and looked game in his few games here.
The fact that we dont have a scrub like Danis as a call up excites me. We have 3 goaltenders that can all do decent to fantastic right now... whens the last time we could say that.

That MacT will do just about anything in his power to avoid addressing D. :sarcasm:

...and here I thought I was the only one who still called people jabronies

Good on MacT to get something for Bryz and not give much up for a highly touted Fasth, especially when dealing with a team in the same division (I don't call the Ducks a "rival").

Very happy with this trade. Fasth is a good goalie, and I am 100% confident with the tandem of Scrivens and Fasth next year.

Dude, I totally agree. And we're spending what? 4.8M on goaltending next year? Sounds good to me!

So how is this better than just keeping Bryz? I guess time will tell, but to me it just further illustrates that MacT is a gambler and not a visionary.

He is enough of a visionary to see that Bryz was not going to re sign here next year barring substantial overpayment.

Good move for you guys. Solid tandem in net now. If you can maybe grab a D upgrade in the near future, you'll have a tough club to beat.

I loved the 630 interview. "Whats it like knowing you're coming to the Oilers!"

He didn't say anything bad in any way but I always have the reserved feeling of the mouth says one thing and the brain is saying something completely different.

You guys are all missing the bigger picture...

How the hell do you pronounce Fasth?

Now this guy gets it.

All of MacT's bold moves and we went from Dubnyk/LaBarbera to Scrivens/Fasth. If Labarbera hadn't been such a ridiculously, insanely bad signing, that would hardly count as an upgrade at all.

Once again, we're hoping and praying that a couple guys outperform their abilities-shown-to-date and IF they do then MAYBE we've shored up a position. And given the Oilers pro scouting... Those are very slim odds.

Stupid-ass franchise.

We started the season with a goaltending duo of Dubnyk and LOLbarbera. Now we have Scrivens and Fasth. That's a massive upgrade no matter how you look at it..

So basically you're upset because we didn't trade for a guy like Quick. lol.
