If they are expecting Gauthier or Hajek to play, then they clearly can't be trusted regarding Crosby.

They aren't expecting Goat or Hajek to play, but they still post odds on them scoring the first goal. If anyone wanted to bet on them scoring the first goal, they'd have to also factor in the odds of them playing in the first place. Same with Dumoulin. Dumoulin is 65 to 1 to score the first goal tonight. Hajek 60 to 1. Gauthier 25 to 1.

How in the world is Gauthier 25 to 1 odds of scoring the first goal of tonight’s game? I wouldn’t take those odds if he was guaranteed to play, and he’s not playing.

The odds are right on Draft Kings, the NHL's betting house of choice. I've bet on like two sporting events in my life, but I usually look to the people who have money riding on things for the true state of play. If you can get a bet on Brian Dumoulin to score the first goal tonight, or Libor Hajek or Radim Zohorna, but you can't get one on Sidney Crosby, on the NHL's house casino, that tells me there's basically no chance Sidney Crosby is playing tonight.
