THE SERIES SO FAR

SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AT THE TIME

2017 ROUND ONE SERIES vs OTTAWA

The Bruins and Senators play game 6 of their Round One series tonight with Ottawa leading the series 3 games to 2 … If necessary, game 7 will be in Ottawa on Apr. 26.

The Bruins enter tonight’s game with a 3-19 series record when trailing in a best-of-7 series 2-3 … They are 10-12 all-time in game 6s when trailing 2-3 in a best-of-7 series.

8 of Boston’s 11 goals in this series have been scored in the 2nd period.

David Pastrnak (2-2=4) & David Backes (1-3=4) lead the Bruins this post-season.

Drew Stafford is the only current Bruin who had previously faced Ottawa in a playoff series (played one scoreless game while with Buffalo in 2007).

Zdeno Chara played 45 playoff games with Ottawa from the 2002-2006 post seasons with 3-11=14 totals in those games.

Gm 1, Apr. 12: Bos 2 at Ott 1 … Bobby Ryan opened the series scoring with a 2nd period goal for Ottawa, who held the Bruins without a shot in that period … The Bruins scored twice in the 3rd for the win, as Frank Vatrano evened the score with his 1st career playoff goal & Brad Marchand netted the GWG with 2:33 remaining in regulation … 8 Bruins made their playoff debuts in the game with Charlie McAvoy playing his 1st career NHL game … Tuukka Rask took the win in goal with Craig Anderson earning the loss … SOG: Bos 25, Ott 27 … PP: 0/4 … PK: 0/2

Gm 2, Apr. 15: Bos 3 at Ott 4/OT … Drew Stafford scored the game’s 1st goal before Clarke MacArthur countered for the Senators … The Bruins opened a 3-1 lead on goals by Tim Schaller (SH) and Patrice Bergeron (PP) but Ottawa came back in the 3rd period on goals 2:20 apart by Chris Wideman and Derick Brassard … Dion Phaneuf ended the game at 1:59 of OT … Tuukka Rask and Craig Anderson again got the decisions in net … SOG: Bos 29, Ott 29 … PP: 1/3 … PK: 1/4

Gm 3, Apr. 17: Ott 4 at Bos 3/OT … The Senators opened a 3-0 lead on goals by Mike Hoffman (2) and Derick Brassard but the Bruins came back with 3 2nd period goals by Noel Acciari, David Backes and David Pastrnak to even the score … A scoreless 3rd period sent the game into OT where Bobby Ryan scored on the PP at 5:43 of the extra session … Tuukka Rask and Craig Anderson each played their 3rd straight games in goal … SOG: Bos 20, Ott 32 … PP: 1/3 … PK: 2/4

Gm 4, Apr. 19: Ott 1 at Bos 0 … Bobby Ryan scored the GWG for the 2nd straight game and Craig Anderson made 22 saves in earning his 4th career playoff shutout ... Tuukka Rask made 26 saves in the loss … SOG: Bos 22, Ott 27 … PP: 0/1 … PK: 0/3

Gm 5, Apr. 21: Bos 3 at Ott 2/2OT … The Senators tool a 2-0 lead on goals by Mark Stone and Jean-Gabriel Pageau but for the 3rd time in the 5 games of the series, a team overcame a multi-goal deficit to force OT as David Pastrnak and Sean Kuraly (1st NHL goal) scored in the 2nd period for Boston … The 12th-longest game in Bruins history came to an end when Kuraly scored his 2nd of the
game at 10:19 of the 2nd OT … Tuukka Rask and Craig Anderson both played 90 minutes in getting the decisions in goal .. SOG: Bos 39, Ott 43 … PP: 0/3 … PK: 0/5

BOSTON vs OTTAWA, LIFETIME SERIES

The Bruins and Senators are meeting for the first time in the playoffs since the Senators began NHL play in 1992 … That leaves 8 teams that Boston has not yet played in the post-season (Anaheim, Arizona, Calgary, Columbus, Minnesota, Nashville, San Jose, Winnipeg).

The Bruins played the original Ottawa Senators in the 1927 Stanley Cup Final, won by Ottawa in four games.

The Senators now hold a 3-2 edge in games with a 12-11 scoring advantage vs. Boston all-time in post-season play.

MILESTONES APPROACHING

Dominic Moore is two games short of his 100th NHL playoff game.

INJURIES

Hope you're doing better Fenway.

I'm ready to run through a freaking wall

I'm feeling 4-1. Goals from Marchand, Bergeron, Stafford and Acciari

Waiting for the game to start is going to be the longest 3 house of my life. Not because I can't wait for the game but, because it's a beautiful Sunday afternoon here in Toronto and the lil' lady is going to nag me about getting out of the house.

If Krejci is out lets get JFK in his first playoff action. Subbing in a young unproven guy worked last game (Kuraly) over some more experienced garbage (Hayes/Beleskey/Spooner). I'd give JFK's Spooners 10 minutes no problem. I think he'd be far more likely to positively impact the game than any of those other 3.

Flip flop Schaller and Vatrano if necessary. Combinations aside these are the 12 forwards I dress today if Krejci can't go. Unfortunately I doubt it happens... but here's hoping

Win this and anything can happen in a game 7. Looking for a big game out of Bergy and Marshy... They're due.

Thanks Fenway! I hope your ankle is feeling a little better.

I'm having fun again with the Bruins in the playoffs! This has been more than I had hoped for this season so far....a game 7 would be amazing!

Let's go Bruins!!!!! :handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap:

They better play their ***** off. Win the game. Hit them hard. Grind it out. But play physical. You saw how that disrupted them. Get after them and Anderson early. No mistakes. No going through the motions. Step up. Lead. And win. The game will be won by who wants it most.

Let's hope the Bruins do!

Believe.
