Why will there be so much change in a week? Seems the ECHL is VERY different than the AHL for many reasons then the obvious skill level.
For starters, teams invite a lot more players to training camp on PTOs than they actually need, so you'll be seeing players cut before opening night. Teams can have
22 21 skaters (this is lowered to
21 20 after the first month or so) and two goalies, with two extra spots for reserved players.
Speaking from what Worcester went through last season, you could end up with a few more guys from the AHL or NHL club by the time the season starts or soon after, resulting in players signed by your ECHL club being cut from the team.
Throughout the season you'll also lose guys who signed with your ECHL club who get offers overseas or by AHL teams that your club isn't affiliated with.
Seeing how a majority of Newfoundland's players are from the AHL and NHL clubs, you'll be losing players to recalls more than anything else.
