We have a lot of contracts to renew for next year as well as a lot of up and coming prospects ready for some NHL minutes. The cap is getting bigger but we are still pretty tight. Kreider, Chris
Pouliot, Benoit
Zuccarello, Mats

I think he was commenting on the cap issue they have and we will end up having if we keep Richards and try to sign the higher end talent on this list.

The way i see it... Unless Richards has a 55+ point season he needs to go.

Forwards
Callahan, Ryan - Stays
Brassard, Derick - Stays unless richards is killing it. To goo and to expenisve to have as a third line center
Boyle, Brian - Gone unless puts some great numbers and hits
Pyatt, Taylor - gone or sent to minors for dirt cheap
Kreider, Chris - Probably moved at the trade deadline unless really comes into his own.
Pouliot, Benoit - Depends on center situation but probably staying
Zuccarello, Mats - Is a great player but is on a team with a ton of play makers. Might stay depending on cap space.
Powe, Darroll - Plays well for a 4th line center and PKer. Staying
Moore, Dominic - Probably staying and being a 3rd line sniper with the ability to move up to 2nd line with injuries.
Asham, Arron - gone
Kristo, Danny - Resigned
Jean, Kyle - Hopefully resinged.
Bourque, Ryan - probably resigned
Mashinter, B. - probably resigned.
Haley, Micheal - gone
Wilson, Jason - gone

Defensemen
Girardi, Dan - Needs to stay
Del Zotto, M. - hopefully traded while still has value.
Stralman, Anton - hopefully stays
Falk, Justin - Can skate like the wind. Needs to stay. Very cheap with lots of upside
Moore, John - NEEDS TO STAY. Some of the most upside on the team. I think he already overshadows MDZ as far as potential point producer. Can skate better and will sign for a lot less.
Johnson, Aaron - Probably kept as a depth guy
Bickel, Stu - gone
Syvret, Danny - Depends on depth in minors

Goaltenders
Lundqvist, Henrik - obviusly staying unless he wants to leave
Biron, Martin - still one of the best back up goalies in the league but we need to develop youth. I see his time coming to an end or a 1 year contract.
Missiaen, Jason - probably gone
Stajcer, Scott - didnt live up to potential. gone.

I don't think i do. I watched him all over the ice last night. He isnt the best but I never said put him on the top pair. He is a bottom 6 depth guy. He was easily the best skating defensemen on both nyr and njd that wasnt moore. He can be signed for pennies.

Seriously. Given the cap recapture consequences, Brad needs to hit PPG and lead the team a minimum of three rounds deep into the playoffs before I even THINK about keeping him.

And lead us into the Stanley Cup game 7 down 3-1 with 5 minutes to go and he scores a hat trick all while renegotiating the CBA so we can restructure contracts.

I'm curious about Boyle. I think him and Moore are in a battle to become AV's new Malholtra.

One will be gone next season, as I think Lindberg is our #3 center next season.

I can't see management letting go of either Girardi or Callahan but I'll bet we'll regret giving out at least one of the two contracts they end up getting.

C- Stepan, Brassard, Lindberg, Moore
RW- Callahan, Kreider, Kristo, Dorsett
LW- UFA, Hagelin, Zuccarello, Miller, Fast

Where's Nash? Solid center depth but the wings are full of question marks. Hopefully the kids pan out.

Lot´s of paperwork ahead

Forwards
Callahan, Ryan - Stays
Brassard, Derick - Stays
Zuccarello, Mats - Stay
Kristo, Danny - Resigned
Kreider, Chris - Very hard to say. Traded if not breaking out?
Pouliot, Benoit - Very hard to say at this point. Gone if young guns develop?
Boyle, Brian - Might stay for pretty cheap. Might also be dealt today.
Moore, Dominic - Gone if Lindberg shows up. Otherwise possible depth.
Bourque, Ryan - Might be resigned as an AHL career guy. Injury prone
Mashinter, B. - Stay? Either him or Haley will be held on to. Not both
Haley, Micheal - Stay? Either him or Mashinter will be held on to. Not both
Pyatt, Taylor - Traded soon?? Not resigned
Powe, Darroll - Traded soon!!!
Asham, Arron - Gone
Jean, Kyle - Gone
Wilson, Jason - Gone

Defensemen
Girardi, Dan - Stay
Moore, John - Stay
Del Zotto, M. - Stays . Especially if Staal is gone and Moore develops. Otherwise likely traded.
Stralman, Anton - Depends entirely on Big Mac. Might co$t too much to resign
Falk, Justin - This year will decide. Likely gone if Big Mac shows up
Johnson, Aaron - Maybe an AHL/recall depth guy
Bickel, Stu - Alas, another fan favorite gone
Syvret, Danny - Depends on depth needed in the minors

Goaltenders
Lundqvist, Henrik - Stay
Biron, Martin - Gone
Missiaen, Jason - Probably gone

Biron, Martin - still one of the best back up goalies in the league but we need to develop youth. I see his time coming to an end or a 1 year contract.

i think this is a bit of a myth. biron seems, to me, to be better as a starter. coming in for one game at a time isn't his thing. i think he's good insurance for hank but as a guy to give hank a day off three times a month, he isn't really so special. i do *like* biron, fwiw. but i'm sure the rangers wouldn't bend over backward to re-sign him. just my two cents.

Stays:

Whoever plays well

Goes:

Whoever doesn't play well.

This might seem like a snarky response, but it's hard to venture a guess when this season hasn't been played yet.

If it wasnt for his age i would agree with the potential starter role.

Callahan, Ryan - Y
Brassard, Derick - Y
Boyle, Brian - ?
Pyatt, Taylor - N
Kreider, Chris - Y
Pouliot, Benoit - N
Zuccarello, Mats - ?
Powe, Darroll - N
Moore, Dominic - ?
Asham, Arron - N
Kristo, Danny - Y
Jean, Kyle - ?
Bourque, Ryan - N
Mashinter, B. - N
Haley, Micheal - ?
Wilson, Jason - N

The reason for the quite many Ns is, I think a lot of our AHLers will take a step and be NHL-ready next season. I see Pouliot as some sort of a stop gap for this year. I'm also pretty sure one of Moore and Boyle has to go next season.

Defensemen
Girardi, Dan - ? (I think McIlrath steps up; he will be by far the most expensive of our 4 NHLers on this list, so they keep MDZ and Stralman)
Del Zotto, M. - Y
Stralman, Anton - Y
Falk, Justin - ? (they might keep him for depth reasons)
Moore, John - ****, Y
Johnson, Aaron - N
Bickel, Stu - N
Syvret, Danny - ?

Goaltenders
Lundqvist, Henrik - Y

I don't see us getting rid of Boyle as long as he accepts a reasonable contract. Would be idiotic to let him go unless he wants a lot of money.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him get paid in free agency. He can do everything Gaustad can do and scores at a higher rate.
