He was off balance before the contact and fell because of it. It was also a solid hit if you forget about the interference bit.

Nope, you rarely see a guy like Getzlaf get crushed

Anyway, he should have been on balance, looking at that video Getz was clearly aware of what was going to happen several meters/about 1-2 seconds before the collision. It wasn`t that Watson cought him by surprise, Getz saw the situation
