Why would Sakic care if the agent is mad?

Sakic isn't going to trade Duchene just for the sake of trading him/re-building.

Duchene is a 25/26 year old Canadian Olympic level player. If they need to wait to get the right deal, they will wait. And they should.

So if Sakic calls him to tell him that he is willing to take the last offer that was on the table, Snow will jump up and take it. No questions asked...

How? Part of that last offer is now heading to Calgary.

Sakic let it drag on to long like everyone has been saying for awhile and it's going to cost him in value now. Rookie GM making a rookie mistake.

They won't get fair market offers anymore now that all this information is out there. This whole ****show guarantees Duchene walks during free agency and the closer to him becoming a UFA the less Colorado will get for him.

Didn't realize Chiarelli was involved in this deal.

Lol to think, Chiarelli gave the same price for Grif that the Flames gave for Hamonic lol

Imo Duchene will end up getting less than the Isles initial offer, especially if the Avs are just as bad this coming year as last.

What does Duchene have to lose? Sakic doesn't get his price Duchene walks at the end of next season. Sakic is under pressure here.

He'll walk free in 2 years if this continues, and the offers won't get better when he's a rental.

Pretty sure that Sakic never really wanted Hamonic anyway.

So swapping out Hamonic for the picks he got in return in that offer probably would just be fine for Sakic...

@LondonKendrick:

Duchene has 2 full seasons left.

There won't be any walking anywhere anytime soon...

Tavares may have second thoughts about staying if Snow can't land the big fish.

True, he's probably never going to have to deal with Pat Brisson or CAA again...

I don't think anything at all will come of this (it's posturing for his client) but you do want to have decent lines of communications with the agencies and their clients.

Yeah, the Avs have already had big issues with Newport, the agent that represents Barrie, and Ryan O'Reilly, so to potentially alienate another agency would be catastrophic at this point.

Avs signed Iginla after the Newports Sports drama.

When money is involved, agents get over things real quick.

Best case scenario for Duchene and the Avalanche?

Duchene gets his ass in gear next year and discretely ask Sakic for a trade. His value will go back to where it should be so the Avalanche can get something proper in return and Duchene can move on in life.

Win-win.

Yeah that is probably what will happen...

Sakic is way too stubborn to getting pressured into a deal like that and Snow doesn't seem to be willing to really put his balls on the table and do what is necessary to get Tavares the help he deserves...

Duchene will be able to decide when he gets traded. Could be half a year from now if he starts off hot and bounces back.

If not he will probably be here for another 1.5 years...

Really not an ideal situation for anyone but the **** has already hit the fan so might as well make the best out of it if the offers are not there...

Sakic should have never publicaly stated the players names that were off limits. (McKinnon and Rantannen)
Duchene has been asked since the trade deadline and bombarded with questions about the " inevitable " trade. Duchene has said things like he's "expecting " it and he knows it's part of the business and all that stuff.

Sakic should have publicly stated that he wants to improve his hockey club and all options are open. Don't tell the media who is and isn't off limits or on the block.

Duchene now has been dealing with this for months and probably just wants it to be over one way or another.
Best thing to do now is say tou don't foresee any major moves but you will listen as it is your job and giving the chance you will upgrade your team if the right deal comes along. The end.

Other AVS fans have said that Sakic doesn't want a futures only package. Is that true?

Staple has been acting if he is the PR Director for Snow and the Isles. He hasn't been helping their cause.

Duchene may ultimately be traded, but I seriously doubt he will be traded to the Islanders at this point.

Of course he is pissed.

That last line is hilarious, though..

At a reduced price..

Yeah sure.

I am pretty certain that at this point Snow and the guy he really needs to keep happy right now (because he is also the agent of John Tavares) have way more of a problem with a deal not happening than Sakic does...

So if Sakic calls him to tell him that he is willing to take the last offer that was on the table, Snow will jump up and take it. No questions asked...

I think the last line is suggesting that pissing off the player and the agent could lead to a public trade request - reducing his value

the last offer is not on the table because the main piece is in Calgary

you aren't going to get the consensus 'fair' value for a player like duchene because there are generally exactly 0 teams willing to give it up.

Crap, Avs might as well trade Mackinnon for whatever they can get now as Brisson represents him too and his value will surely plummet due to the Duchene saga.
