Drouin should play for a team like Carolina or Florida. High octane offense. Indifferent defense. Low pressure. Hardly anyone would even recognize him in either city.

Huh? In the 3 years since he's been coach, Brind'Amour has shown he won't play a guy in meaningful situations UNLESS he commits to play defense. Over the past 3 years, here's how Carolina and MTL rank on various defensive metrics.

NHL RANK 5v5:

SA/60: CAR-4th best, MTL - 8th best
CA/60: CAR-2nd best, MTL 6th best
GA/60: CAR 7th best, MTL 13th best
SCA/60: CAR 8th best, MTL 5th best

Canes main defensive flaws come in 2 categories.
1) They have their defensemen pinch aggressively, jump in the play aggressively and play very tight gaps in the neutral zone. This is very effective at keeping the puck, but when there is a breakdown, it can lead to a higher danger chance against. This style of play demands that the forwards work hard defensively to cover for any possible breakdowns.
2) They aren't big physically, so sometimes struggle when bigger team gets the puck in deep and cycles against them.

Calling them "indifferent defensively" is not accurate at all. Dzingle couldn't get in the line-up for this reason after they signed him to a UFA contract. Skinner was moved for this reason right when RBA became coach. etc.. etc..

Not saying Drouin wouldn't work in Carolina, but if he doesn't at least commit to playing both ends of the ice, he won't see the ice under RBA.

JTC isn’t useless. He’s definitely overpaid for a solid 4th liner that does PK work adequately.

a useless player is Patrick Nemeth. He made the Avs significantly worse by his presence on the ice.

JT Compher plays a focused defensive game. He’s ok there. His offense is really erratic and his game is hollow on that side of the ice. He doesn’t make the Avs worse. He just doesn’t make them better.

He did score what was the biggest goal of the regular season vs Vegas. Late in the 3rd period. Broke a tie and put the Avs into the Presidents trophy.

No dude you are wrong. Price is not on ltir atm. The 11M ltir accounts for Weber and Byron only. Suzuki’s contract is not up until next season. Weber is expected to retire or remain on ltir until his contract is up. He is not returning, hence the Savard signing.

Habs have no cap issues at this time and in fact have a surplus.
