I want to see some other people's opinions on what our roster, could potentially look like to start the 2016 season. Try and use your imagination but not to unrealistic please! Our future looks great and thinking about things like this gets me more pumped then I already am for the future of our Flames!
( Assuming our prospects reach the potential they are given.)

Also I'm not sure if there's already a thread on this, if there is I am sorry and could you link me to it!

Cheers Flames fans :)

Don't think We will be a playoff team just yet in two seasons. We will be close like a mid team. Not bad enough to suck or good enough to move up. I like the future though.

2016? Like 2015-16? or 2016-17? I wish people would realize that the hockey season covers multiple years

I'll assume you mean 2015-16, since 2016-17 is pretty much impossible to guess at anyways.

Glencross - Monahan - Hudler
Gaudreau - Bennett - Colborne
Bouma - Backlund - Jones
Bollig - Knight - McGrattan

Giordano - Brodie
Wideman - Smid
Russell - Wotherspoon

Ramo
Ortio

Probably would end up being about a middle-of-the-pack team, despite being pretty young.

im guessing you mean 15-16 season??

my ideal lineup would look something like this

Gaudreau-Monahan-Eichel
Colborne-Bennet-Baertschi
Poirier-Backlund-Granlund
Bouma-Arnold-Reinhart
Klimchuck-Knight-Agostino

Giordano-Brodie
Russel-Wotherspoon
Sieloff-Smid
Culkin-Kulak

Hiller
Ortio
Gillies

that means this time next year i fully expect the flames to trade wideman, hudler, glencross, and stajin to bring in some more young talent. i highly doubt it will though

Sorry thought I clarified that because I said that start of the 2016 season! Meaning 2016-17, sorry for the confusion!
this clarifies it, but there is no such thing as a 2016 season.

but here is my guess.

Johnny Gaudreau - Sean Monahan - __________
Mason Raymond - Sam Bennett - Emile Poirier
Morgan Klimchuk - Corban Knight - Bill Arnold
Lance Bouma - Matt Stajan - Brandon Bollig
__________ / ___________

Mark Giordano - TJ Brodie
Tyler Wotherspoon - __________
__________ - Deryk Engelland
Ladislav Smid

__________ / Joni Ortio

fill the blanks with UFAs, trades, prospects and players yet to be drafted.

Maybe he means the portion of the 2015/2016 season in 2016, and the portion of the 2016/2017 season in 2016. :sarcasm:

My line up is similar except Bollig is scratched, Bouma is in his spot, Bennett and Bart are on the 3rd line as wingers, and Stajan is in between Hudler and Glencross while Monahan goes down to the 2nd line.

EDIT: Forgot about Hiller. I'd have him fighting for the #1 spot with Ramo. Split the games 30/30/22 between the three.

Realistically I wonder whether he'll be here much longer. Gaudreau does what Baertschi does but better, and Klimchuk's all-around game is better than Sven's. Makes me think that Baertschi might get moved soon for a D prospect.
I agree, especially with Agostino, Reinhart and Granlund that can also play LW as well.

So are you guys saying we are moving Sven for Gormely, and drafting Hanifin this year?

Gaudreau / Monahan / Poirier
Klmchuk / Bennett / Jankowski
Agostino / Backlund / Glencross
Bouma / Knight / Arnold

Gio / Hanifin
Gormley / Brodie
Wotherspoon / Sieloff
Kulak

Hiller
Ortio

Don't think Yotes consider Sven for Gormley. I'd wait a year and do Sven for Pouliot or Sven for Stone. We still ned some vets in the lineup so Glencross I think will be there. Hudler should be moved in 2-3 years for a bigger winger. I'd like Antoine Roussel. Maybe in a deal with Wideman or even Huds but he'd be a great fit. Very fast, truculent. He's Byron 2.0 IMO. Then idially I'd like Hanfin, Kylington or Andersson or Sprong in 2015. Then maybe Auston Mathhews (no typos, RW) or Kale Clague (D) for 2016

But would these teams do it? From our P.O.V we do it, but we have think about the other teams P.O.V.

In that case, let's take another stab.

Gaudreau - Bennett - Colborne
Klimchuk - Monahan - Poirier
Bouma - Backlund - Agostino
Van Brabant - Knight - McGrattan

Giordano - Hanifin
Gormley - Brodie
Wotherspoon - Sieloff

Ramo
Ortio

I think Gormley for Sven is a perfect deal. Pouliot is worth well more than Sven IMO, and Stone isn't nearly as good as Sven.

If the Yotes need offence and Gormley keeps progressing making them need Stone less I jump all over that from both teams POV. Next year if Sven shows his true value the Pens should take Baertschi who'll be a great fit.

If Sven shows his value we could just keep him and trade others. Although I have always said we should trade for someone who is young and can maybe help us. Stone could be alright, but they may need him because the Yotes are always putting Yandle's name out there. If he ever gets traded they will also keep Gormely.
